Yeah there is some slight triming at the front, rode in a 4 door with one and the guy said he had to trim a little off of the front to get it to sit right on the firewall.

it looked hella sweet in there.

    Default um not too long

lil over an hour i think...from start to finish the whole swap took over 4 1/2 hours but i had some wiring issues due to the tweaker that owned the car before me...there was actually a wall switch wired in the center console (like a light switch, and all it did was turn on the door ajar light) lol.....and i had to beat the floor down where someone didn't put the jack in the right place. but it looks great... there's a small gap on the left and right side barely noticable. i'm making a small write up that descibes the main parts of how to do it because it's not just a bolt in swap lol

^^^^smart mod i did that on my old accord and got a keyless entry alarm i also removed the door locks you know the part that pops up on the inside so if i left the windows cracked someone could pull it up im def feeling your 4 door

for the part under the dash i think just about everyone here has that issue the little tab breaks so easily i found mine at the pull a part on moreland ave they do have quite a few 4 doors in there but finding one with black int. is gonna be the hard part. i go out there alot just to learn how to take stuff off of my car so if i see one ill pick one up for you
    now with LSD

i need one for the rex. i just wasnt thinking when i pulled this dash and forgot it. it was so hot at pull a part that day. i got the dash for freaking 27 dollars!! yay lol. so if you see one for a 90 91 rex and want to grab it that would be so sweet.. i won't be working on my ride for a while though. due to the fact i'm getting married september 7th then i'll be in mexico for a little over a week. i think my swap is being put in while i am away though assuming i can get all the parts ready for my friend. i gotta get some knuckles and hubs because my drivers side is from a dx and passenger side is an ex lol...

It looks better then the jdm armrest when done right, and costs a fraction of what the jdm piece usually goes for. It is also wide enough to hold two drinks in it, and Honda has a cup holder accessory for these armrests as well.

    What do you need?

    - 88-91 CRX
    - Armrest from a 96-2000 Civic (often nicknamed EK chassis)
    - One can of Flat Black Interior Paint
    - Hand File OR a Dremel (Highly Recommended)
    - Two Metric Bolts - 8 x 40mm
    - Two Black Screw Caps

    How is it done?

First is the shape of the front. I don't have any images of this part, but you must Dremel the shape of the CRX shifter console into the EK armrest.

My only advice is to go slow and take too little rather then too much.

Next is the color. The problem with EK Civics is they almost always come with Grey interior.

That is where the paint comes in:

This is a paint found at PepBoys. It's pretty much a perfect match for the black Honda used OEM.

****NOTE: There are two blacks in this line of paint, MATTE and GLOSSY. The GLOSSY cap is shiny, DO NOT GET this type. Stick to MATTE (dull cap) for a real OEM finish.

And most importantly: DO NOT SOAK OR DRIP THE PAINT, IT WILL RUIN THE FACTORY TEXTURE!

Use 3 or 4 light coats to cover it.

After I finished cutting and painting it:

Next you have to measure and drill the two holes for the mounting screws:

You can get these screws at most Home Depots, these are the exact ones with the proper threading for the factory holes in the floorboard of the car.

After you bolt them in you use the screw caps to hide the bolts.

The easiest place to find these black screw caps is in "license plate mounting kits" at your local auto parts store.

If you followed this it should look pretty much like this bolted in:
