    Smile Paint job experiment

I wanted a professional paint job but the prices around town are ridiculous so I have spent the past few days researching rattle can paint jobs on-line, and decided to do it. So I went to Home Depot today and bought one can of Rust-oleum Painter's Touch [Gloss] in Navy Blue, a can of gloss black and a can of clear gloss of the same brand. I sprayed one fender just to see how it was going to look [following directions and tips from videos/forums that I researched.] This is how it turned out:

This was the second coat. Kind of streaky. Tape on the side molding.

This was the third coat [we did light first coat, light second coat, sanded it, light third coat.] I messed up painting the side moldings black. But this was just an experiment so...

And this is what it looks like now after gloss.

So... what do y'all think? Yay or nay?

I kind of just wanted to experiment and keep it temporarily until I can get a nice paint job, which will be in a month... maybe two.

Well, Columbus doesn't have a Pep Boys. I looked at one at Wal-Mart for $25 and one at Home Depot for $35 but I didn't know if it was worth it. And I thought automotive paint cost more than that?

Instead of auto paint spray rustoleum, in the quart/gallon you can get at lowes.

I've decided to primer that fender again and just rock the primer until my boyfriend/friends throw money together to get the CRX a paint job for my birthday.

What makes you think I have money.... seriously I'm broke as ****

Dont forget it took my car 4 years to get to this point.

I guess I'm different then most people, spray paint and primer looks like crap to me (I still love ya'll that do it, so this isn't hate). I would rather throw a cheap maaco paint job on my car the ride like that. $199 can do wonders. Goto H-T and look at the maaco paint thread.

lol ahahahahah thats fuccked up. $400 for those seats, he's a ricer for real cuz those seats arent wort $400. hope the paint comes out good. where are u getting it painted?

just in case u where thinking macco, here is a susgestion. dont get a macco paint job! macco buys used paint from OSHA. OSHA is a government regulated company that recieves open unused paint from every company in the U.S. they way they onganize the paint in buy standard color, not buy paint code. so all the blues go into a blue bucket, all the yellow in a yellow bucket, and so on. so when macco says ur getting a one of a kind paint job they aren't lying, if u were to ever have a minor accident u would never in amillion years be able to match it. plus the body/prep work isn't the gratest either. they dont try and remove most of the old paint, they just scuff the surface of the old paint. blow the dust of and primer it then paint. no wet sanding is involved at all.

i was going to get a macco paint job untill my friend that works there told me wat they do. hes was almost fired for preping car the right way. but anyway hope the paint comes out well GL.

Jay, I bet you wish you were one of my "hater" friends instead of one of my best friends! Haha. Um. I'm going to get Corey to do it. We talked about it last night. By the way, why do you have negative rep? Oh, wait. That doesn't surprise me in the least.
