Speaking as an Engineer.
When I went to school, I was ready for the End of School. I just wanted to be in the real world doing what I had schooling for. I took summer classes also. I had a full time job, not in my industry.
I can tell you first hand about the pressures. I had the same issues with money. I did not do the project cars due to working too much.
I can tell you in the long run your efforts will pay off. I've been a Mechanical Engineer now for 16 years. I'm now for the first time in a very rewarding job and position.
Project cars come and go. I've been through a few (jeeps, z28's). I've been married, divorced and now married again.
I now have a rewarding career, plus the funds able to pay for the projects. I've got two project cars sitting in my garage as I type. The wife is totally cool with both of them due to she is a car chick. Even my folks are cool with it. They see it as a relaxation.
I'd say if you need the money sell the hatch, but hide the money so you can use it for the wedding. Our wedding was totally out of pocket. Thank god for my stashing every dollar bill I get that helped.
In looking at some of your threads, you have a passion for these cars. You can always pick up another when money is there. I got rid of my first hatch (I had big plans), at that time I did not have the money. I now have a hatch again and I have the money.
If you do decided to part with stuff be sure to let all the Ef guys know. I'm the same way a jdm front end would be cool for my hatch.
This is the words from an older Ef guy.
