    Default Pics from Sunday's autocross

These aren't my pics, I am posting them here with the photographer's permission. The full set of pics can be found here:

This #93 Evo took FTD. Just like the last autocross.

I think that's enough teaser shots. Hit the link at the top for more.

Here's a few more shots of the EFs that were in attendance. Just three of us.

the Firebird actually did fairly well, though it helps that he was on race tires. For true failure, see the Camaro in the last pic of the first post. He was riding on Hoosiers and still couldn't handle that car. It was like watching a leprechaun trying to wrestle a bull through downtown Tokyo. Just... fail.

He was the fastest of the three, but not by much. I believe he was 9 tenths faster than the hatch, and he got me by 2.1 seconds. Of course, he was riding on Toyo RA-1s, a distinct advantage over the RT-615s on the hatch, and way better than my ****ty generals. The driver of the wagon is also the most experienced autocrosser among us.

Awesome Always good to see some EFs driven hard. You have a Quaife LSD right?? I bet that would have been horrible w/ and open diff. in your car, lol.

Well you know what's in my car. The hatch is a 90 Si, stock except for I/H/E, and the suspension. I don't know what springs are in it, but he told me the rates are 300/400. It's also his daily driver.

The wagon is a mechanically stock 90 or 91 4WD. All I know is that he has coilovers on it. It is also a DD. The owner of the wagon has another 4WD wagon he's putting together though, It's got a B18C1 with a built head, stage 3 cams, full suspension, giant rear sway bar, CR-V tranny, the works. As soon as it's running we'll see it at the autocrosses. The only thing holding him up right now is the cable/hydro setup, the Hasport stuff doesn't work with the CR-V tranny, so he has to rig something else. He'll probably use Innovative's remote-mount clutch cylinder.

Actually I do have an open diff. HMotors didn't have any LSDs in stock when I bought my swap, or I'd have one. I just have to practice throttle control. There is definitely a Quaife in its future though.

you don't need new suspension and wheels or anything else to get into autocross. In fact, *the* best way to learn is in a bone stock car. Learn to drive what you have first before upgrading.

Plus, quite often the mods that people do to their cars will put them in a really uncompetitive class. But, tbh, our cars even in H stock get eaten alive by Mini Coopers. All the aftermarket equipment will do is change the learning curve by making it a lot higher.

Learning to drive something that is slow forces one to maximize momentum. Once a driver really learns that concept, then as the car's capabilities are increased the driver will be better able to take advantage of the car.

It's very possible, but I don't what you have done to your car. When I autocross, I run in STS, but the car is in no way prepped properly for the class. Another good example, the Wagovan that is pictured above....mechanically stock except for coilovers and he's classed in Street Mod; a class that is usually filled with some pretty radical hardware. I have a friend up here with a twin charged (supercharged and turbo) EG hatch and he's in SM.

If you want to get into road course, I'd recommend checking out NASA. Our HPDE program will get yon on track with an instructor in the car as well as classroom time. Typically, HPDE students get about an hour and a half to two hours of track time. Some tracks are more popular and thus the reduced track time (too many cars on track).

Oh, and Jeff, how'd you end up doing in Novice?

My best time was 1 second behind the fastest novice, which put me 3rd in the class, out of 20 entrants.

Nice job on third in class, Jeff!

Yeah, I know Marc fairly well.

His hatch is...well...ridiculous. He gave me a ride once last year on some back roads near Clemson. The acceleration in that car was awesome, and the transition from supercharger to turbo was seemless. I know he's in the process of upgrading the turbo and it should be even faster.
