Default When Did You Get Your 1st EF? Who's Had the Longest?

    Like the title states basically.

When did you guys get your first EF, and what was it exactly. What did you do to it to "upgrade" it etc.

Mine was 1995 and it was a 1990 Red STD model complete with the awesome vinyl seats, no a/c, black bumpers, no passenger side mirror, no 12v outlet/cigarette lighter, 13'' stock steelies on 90K mile crapola T speed rated tires. 70hp engine, 4-speed tranny, etc. etc.

I have no pics from the 1995 era - this was very much before the diggy camera era.

I do have a pic or two when it was still stock other than adding the passenger mirror and 14'' steelies with 92-95 Si swablade hubbies:

    http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MxeTU0MQ%3D%3D

...then I added Tein S-Tech springs with KYB shocks, and I built a D16A6 with '89 Integra pistons, all new OE parts, etc. and also built a ZC/Si hybrid geared tranny to go with it. I also swapped out the vinyl seats for 1990 Si seats, added speaker pods, and rear cargo cover.

    http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg

Then some moron was kind enough to run through an intersection and smash the rear 1/4 panel and send my buddy (who was driving - I wasn't in the car) into a few 360 spins. I'd had the car since 1995 and after about 12 years with the car I had to let it go.

I then built a 1991 Dx hatch and swapped EVERYTHING from the red hatch over, but that's another story entirely.

    I got mine in 2004 or 2005, I don't really remember. It's a 1990 STD.

For upgrades, I did a MPFI swap, Si trans, Si (D16A6) Cam, Ebay header, ANSA muffler, '89 Si seats, CRX dash and center console, DA rear disc brakes, Mugen rear trailing arm bushings, and that's about it.

Bought my rex in 02 then wrecked it. Bought my hatch in 04 when I got my license back and been rockin it ever since. Man I miss that rex. bought it from my history teacher. She bought it new from the dealer in 89 and used it to go to and from school. Her husband was a mechanic. Man that thing was clean. Now im sad.
OMGI found some of my old pix from the ricer days. (first pic has a neon in the grill HAHAHA) And a few of the rex Notice the rice sticker and red painted dash. lol

BTW I still own an "EF" which is the 1990 Wagovan I posted pics in a topic this week.

I've had three so far - I hope to keep my current one seriously forever. I have plans on ever selling it. So far my track recoord for keeping a car "forever" is good - I've now had my current EG since 2002 and even though literally every friend I've got that's ever had a nice EG has sold his, I've kept mine.

Theft, getting totalled, or an act of God will have to ptry my current EF from my hands.

    Default EF'S

Well I bought my first EF back in october of 2002. I was driving a 87 crx si and wanted to be able to modify a crx.

Found it on ebay guy worked at woodstock honda.

1988 honda crx si. Only issue with it was the front brakes they were shot. I gave him $1450 for it. Went home put brakes on it and have been driving it ever since.

Current mods include cold air kit, disc brake rear, h&r springs, tokiko 5 way shocks, stainless steel brake lines, jdm back seat, intergra center console, short shifter and a momo steering wheel.

Since owning that I've also owned the following

    - 90 civic lx sedan - parted out due to rust
    - 88 civic dx hatch - parted out due to never would run right
    - 89 civic lx sedan - sold it
    - 89 civic si being delivered today 3/13/08 - needs putting back together and an engine.

I swear my garage looks like an EF parts store.

Is that the white one that was on craigslist that had the engine bay repainted? Also had pics of the dash, misc. parts lying in the grass? If so that looked like a really nice project car to finish, minus the altezza lights.

i got mine... 2 years ago. dad had one for about a year b4 i did, and i wanted to learn to drive a stick. he bought the car from sum dude @ work, i never even saw it till he brough it home...

the arrangement was for me to sell my current car (240sx auto-skeet) and that would pay for the hatch... oddly enough, i got fired from my job the same day he brought the hatch home, lol. i'm suprised he didn't sell it.

anyway, i've only had one hatch, for about 2 years now....

I'll post a link to the thread about my dad's old red Si when i get a chance...

I got my 88 hatch when I was 16 for 1500 in mint condition with 160k
I didn't do many mods to that one other than intake, exhaust, cd player, hx wheels and that's it
Then I had a wreck and drove it around for a little bit longer and eventually sold it to a friend for cheap

Then I bought an EG sedan w/ a mini me,blew it up and sold it

Now I have another 88 I bought last year It's a peice sometimes but it has the motor I wanted when I had my first one
    Mods to my current are
    B16A
    AEBS IM
    Short ram
    full 2.5 exhaust
    DC header
    MSD 6A, coil and cap
    UR lightweight flywheel
    B&M FPR and short shifter
Low compression pistons(was turbo, will be again soon)
    Adjustable upper control arms
    Tein S-tech springs
    and I believe that's it

I plan on keeping this one forever and making it perfect

My first 88-91 civic/crx was when I turned 16 years old.
back in March 2002 I searched for many weeks before hand for a 88-91 crx ..
and in the "Autotrade" found me one.after going up above Atlanta from
Augusta(where I reside) to pick the car the guy said: "O yeah the title is salvaged".
the back was fairly bad but he wanted $500.talked him down to $200 cash and loaded it on the trailor and came home.stripped it and later purchased a '91 dx hatch and put most items into that.

*the car was a 1989 crx dx in silver.it was clean as hell and in great shape but the back bumper was slightly pushed in.I later sold the dx hatch that i swapped all items to for a good $1k so i made my money back for gas, buying both cars and all extras.

The crx had no mods eccept my badd a** PaceSetter cat-back
that thing was crazy loud, ugly and terrible.but hey i was 16 and it was 2002 !

    Default civic -ef

yep that was the one in craigslist and also on here for sale.

wife never saw it until David dropped it off. She said well you have a good project infront of you but I know you can do it.

my son already claimed it for him and his mum (he is 4), he said dad this is mum's new hotrod.

It was the renaissance of the hotrod in 80's in my opinion. But by definition, was never really a true hot rod.

I got my 1st EF (91 CRX Si) in August of 2001. Then totaled it March 2002. Got another one a month later (90 CRX DX auto), had that one until August 2004 then sold it. In December 2004, I got my current CRX (88 Si), and it will never leave my possession. As, I picked up a 91 Civic DX auto this past January.

My first CRX was in 2001, i did a body kit an paint job with a ZC motor LOL.

I traded it for a stock body CRX with a B16 and never looked back.

from that point on i went on to own about 10 different CRXs.

Im most famous for my all Black 90 SI with the built GSR an ANR header. Next would be the 2.0l LSVTEC 91 SI and 88HF .

Ill own another EF soon, just waiting for the right time.

My parents bought my ef when it was new back in 1991. A rio red std wit just a/c and the 12v cig lighter, my dad would latter add a stereo to it to make the commute to school with my mother more enjoyable. It was there first car they bought without taking out a loan or trading another car go figure it only cost about $8500 back in the day. Ever since I was nine that car has been the car of my dreams, yeah laugh at me I don't give a damn. My dad taught me how to drive stick in it when I was 13 and I pretty much learned everything I know about cars thanks to that car. Sure the plans have changed ranging from a wildly built turbo f22a to an all motor d16a6 it has always been the same slow civic that nobody loves but me. Always have and always will...

I know exactly how you feel. That red STD I posted about was purchased brand new by my mom in late 1989 as a 1990 model with the seatbelts in the doors, etc. It was handed down to me when I turned 16, and back in those days I actually thought the car was fast - thank God it wasn't or I would have probably killed myself in it.

My sister ended up with the car for about a year around the time I was 22-23 years old because she hit hard times and needed a car, so it was kind of an indefinate loan deal. During her "ownership" the car picked up some nice dents and oil leaks/lack of care - the disributor locked up and broke the timing belt about 2 weeks after I got the car back from her, so that prompted my D16A6 high compression build, ZC/Si tranny, etc. etc.

    Cool

I think I bought my first EF in 2000 - to keep from putting miles on my itr. Since then I think I'm on my 3rd or 4th one. I've always loved them just like I've always loved DC2's.

If I could find an 88 std hatch, then I'd consider swapping over to that eventually but otherwise I'll just keep building this one.
