Default What year is your preference:88-89 or 90-91?

Well just thought I'd have a thread to have everyone give their opinions about the civic/crx they prefer most.

Most of you should know the difference im sure.weather it's between the stylings of tailights, corner lenses, bumpers .. or the fact 88-89 has the seatbelt post on the pillars instead of the doors like the 90-91 and the fact they weight slightly less than 90-91's.
or maybe you like the 90-91 dash more since the cluster cover is more rounded,or maybe it's somethig else .. ?
let us know which do you prefer and why is this ?

My opinion I like the 88-89's for some reasons but the 90-91's have their place too.i've had many of both and still i like the 90-91's most.but i'll def pick up a 88-89.

Actually only the 88 CRX has the seatbelts on the pillars, and the 88 also has the same "passive rear steer" suspension setup as the Type R. I prefer the 88, which is why my CRX is an 88.

Civic hatches or CRXs? I think Civic hatches had them in 88 & 89.

Yeah it was only the 88 CRX that had it in the pillar. The Civic hatchbacks had them in 88 and 89.

Yes, the 88 CRX has the same style rear suspension setup as a Type R which incorporates a type of "Passive rear steering." Passive rear steering is basically designing an amount of play in the rear steering so that under a cornering load the rear inside wheel toes way in thus helping rotate the vehicle. People complained about how "twitchy" the car was at the limit so it only lasted one year on the CRX. It has always been used on the Type Rs though.

^^ learnin somethin new everyday. Does that make the 88 somewhat superior to the 91's in cornering?

I like the 90-91 cuz I have one

I'd like a 88-89 with 90-91 front end .. maybe the dash as well.i've done the crx dash into a hatch but both were 90's

I actually preferr a hodge podge of the two. I like the exterior moldings (thinner) of the 90-91, as well as its tail lights.
The rest, i like in 88-89. The boxy cluster cover, the bumper (90-91 bumpers look good...but...i just like the 88-89 better), but what really does it for me is the weight savings of the earlier models.

88 CRX. Cooler gauges (IMO flows better with the car).

I do dislike the moldings on 88-89's but love the chassis for some reason way more.

How many people owned multiple years of EFs? I can say that I owned a 91, 90, and 88, and I liked the 88 the most by far.

I'm gonna go with the 88-89. The front bumper of the 88-89 looks better IMO, and I can't stand the belts mounted in the doors

i've owned every year 88-91 more hatchbacks than the crx.and more Si's than others.front bumper, corner lights for me will have to be 90-91 hands down .. moldings 90-91,tailights 90-91,interior 88-89 and def love my seatbelts in the pillar not in my doors thats a terrible thing.
