    Hmotors FTW!

    Hydro is better because:

Hydro transmissions are rebuildable with parts from the dealer or other hydro trannys. They are easier to find since they came in integras from 94-01 in the US and JAPAN vs Cable trannys that we only got in 90-93 integras.

Cable B16 transmissions have weaker synchros and are known for grinding. Unless you get the coveted YS1 GSR transmission($$$$$), NO INTERCHANGEABLE PARTS FROM OTHER HYDRO B SERIES TRANNYS WILL WORK (LSDs, FInal Drives, Gears, etc) That means you cant buy an ITR LSD an swap it in, or ATS Final Drives, or JDM final drives.

The cable trannys use 2 different clutches depending on year, so changing the clutch can be confusing for first timers.

    List goes on an on.

I mean, for a beginniner, especially an EF, cable b16 is the way to go, its the easiest, no wiring problems, plug an play ecu, cheap mount kit, etc.

But in terms of which trans is better, Hydro hands down

I'm not convinced. The points you raise (availability, ease of rebuilding, which clutch to use) don't really have much to do with the transmission itself.

Assume you have a good GSR YS1 cable tranny in front of you with a good hydro B16 tranny, and assume for the purposes of this comparison that the gearsets are identical. Also assume that the clutch actuation process is irrelevant. Why is the hydro transmission a better choice?
