Any new pieces? Love the work. I really love the green on the valve cover. Makes me want to do mine the same way.

"Powder by the Pound" mostly. Found another company that has a lot of other custom colors. Have top dog their name back up. For powders.

As for the application setup, got it from Summit.

I have some 20" xxr 526 wheels I would like to have powdercoated in the center. They already have powdercoated centers. I took it to millers powdercoating and they said they couldn't do just the centers. The lips are pressed on and polished. Are you able to strip the centers and not powdercoat the lips? I have heard it can be done. Wanted a second opinion.

Yes, it can be done. Surprised that they said they couldn't. You just mask off what you don't want to be coated. You can look at the beginning of this thread and see how the edge of the rim was masked off. But yours would be masked off more. If they are worried about stripping the current powder coat off and harming the polished lip, they could use paint stripper and the coating will have a "melting off" appearance than wrinkle off like traditional paint.

It was a little while back when I took it to them. But I believe he was worried about messing the lips up. Something about the tape they use might cause tape marks and the lips would have to be repolished out. If it wouldn't cause too much of a problem on the lips I would just repolish them myself. Really don't want to take them to a professional to have it done. Not like they are high quality wheels that I mind putting alot of money into them. Just want to try to change the look up a bit. Getting tired of the all black look on my car.

They can use regular masking tape. They need to pull it while the rim is still hot. It will only leave the take adhesive behind. That's all! So clean the sticky off.

Did a quick tester at a 2 tone coating.. Did a later of wet black for the letters and then wrinkle white for the rest of the valve cover. Think it came out nicely for the first try.

    Right before cleaning

    Wet black coat

    Then the wrinkle white

Coated my valve cover tonight. Was going to do the lettering in black but questioned if they would have been to dark for the purple.

Going to grind the letters back out tomorrow. Will be a brighter contrast..
