do it yourself mx6 lip on EF civic

well i bought a lip from a mx6 and i was wondering how would you go about mounting it and making it fit proprly?

ive seen a few people online use these lips and they fit, i was wondering if there was any cutting or anything involved

if dosnt fit, send it back for another one or.... if you drive a jdm civic it shouldnt fit at all

Take the bumper off the car and set it on a bench. Put the lip up on it to see if it is too long, which it most likely will be. Cut down exactly from the Center and repeat the first step too figure out how much to trim off of each side. That is how I have seen it done on Late 3rd gen Preludes

This is what I found for the Lude.

It's not too bad really...It's alot easier with the bumper cover off too!!

The sides fit perfectly after you cut it in half.

Here are the steps I used.

1. Cut it in exactly half.

2. Get a friend to hold both side on so the middle over lap and mark the end of one of the pieces where it overlaps the other and that is where to cut.

3. Cut the part out of the middle.

4. Use self tapping sheet medal screws to screw it securly to the bumper cover starting from the outside and working towards the middle (I used like 1000, lol) The more the better!!

5. Where it's cut in the middle, use fibreglass on the back of it to mold it together. Doesn't matter what it looks like, you won't see it. Goop it on!!

6. Use a little bodyfill or fibreglass resin fill to smooth out the front and then sand smooth.

7. Use spot putty to do the finishing touches.

It looks good on a 3rd Gen Prelude, so it probably will on an EF too. Who cares if its for another car, its not like he is trying to fit a MX-6 bumper on it.

well this is how it turned out. i had another peice of a lip cut for the middle but my driveway made sure that it didnt stay so im going to do a lil more cutting this weekend. cant beat it for $2

All I've ever seen are different lips fitted onto sedan and hatch EFs, no CRX.

Is the CRX bumper much different in shape than the sedan?

and the black tape is something ive been doing to everysingle car i have ever owned.its my trademark, my sign, my signal.......what make me stand out from the croud and its something i dont really see people do so therefore i do it!

Not hating on ya too much but sorry black tape does not make you special. Tape helps keep glass off of the track, and chips off the glass. (What it should be used for.) Just a fyi. If someone reads this and dont know what I mean by the last statement...please go to a non-automotive forum.

I dont think the problem is finding a lip to fit the CRX or any EF for that matter. I'ts about finding one you like. more power to yah buddy. at the end of the day a lips a lip. its no different than the guys that have solid amber cornes on the EG calling tem JDM when we all know they were clear in Japan.

Just get a hold of another half of the lip, then cut to fit.
