    1993 ford escort 1.9, the drive belt is for the alternator, A/C, power steering...there is only one drive belt

    No, look at the belt to see if it is cracking up, splitting. Then you should replace it. Or just if the car has a lot of miles, and then belt hasn't been replaced, then do so.
