That's what I used on my S4... Seemed like everything under the hood was covered with a plastic piece.

However, I'm still trying to figure out what to clean the WRX bay with... doesn't have hardly any plastic there...

Yeah, WD-40 is a bad idea. When dirt, grease, slime, etc makes contact with it, it sticks and stays.

Well I've been using WD since I was 16, never turned my hoses brown, never had a problem with it turning to "slime", catching on fire, or any other problems... So 7 years and no problems, damn right I'm going to keep using it.
I was simply posting something y'all could do for a quick bay detail, so all you "pros" at engine detailing keep do your thing lOlOl...

Megs APC 5:1 with 2:1 Hyper Dressing > Simple Green Motorsports Non-corrosive and finish up with 303 Aerospace Protectant

For me, i hate too shiny of plastic engine components, 10:1 it gives it a very natural "new" look. Also it looks pretty good on tires too. Very light shine with very little sling

10:1 is watered down. Its not really doing anything period for what ever your putting it on.

Another place i like to use for meguiars stuff is autodetailingsolutions.com. Its based in Arizona, but shipping is like 3-4 days tops and he sells samples (Hyper Dressing is only sold in Gallon and 5 gallon i believe, but he sells a sample which comes in a large spray bottle container.)

Jesus, regular lemon pledge will clean and protect all your ruber, metal, and plastics in the engine bay. Works great on all outside black plastics and rubber. It'll keep them looking new and dark. I don't use it in the interior however.

And the best part of all! It doesn't smell like fucking wd-40! Also wd-40 is a penatrate not a lubercant. It will eat at your plastics and rubber and paint anyways. You might as well get some MEK and save yourself some time and let that destroy everything real quick.

3. Put plastic bags over distributor and intake filter...(this is what I do).

4. Spray engine bay and engine as much as you desire, I usually soak it real good.

5. Get a wet brush or a cloth and wipe spots you can to get to.

6. Spray engine bay down with water hose, keep the water away from the distributor and spark plug wires (I own a Honda so you others may want to use less water not sure).

7. Take plastic bags off, close the hood and start the car. Let the engine get hot and evaporate all the water in the engine bay.


This is just what I do... WD-40 sounds like a horrible idea
