Default DIY: Suede headliner & pillars install

This DIY was done on a 1999 Honda Accord Sedan EX-L

    fabric was purchase here: www.DiscountFabricsUSA.com

Well after two days of pretty much non-stop work I have finished the instillation of my suede headliner and pillars. My fingers have blisters, I'm sweaty, sore, tired, STICKY, incoherent, and I'm sure a few other things that I can not think of right now....ohh and I'm happy it is all done!

NOW I didn't go about doing this DIY as some of you might have come accustom to when I post up DIYs. Why you may ask...i dunno...It was a lot of work

I ordered myself 5 yards of black suede a few days ago and received the suede today (finished the install in the same day!) I removed everything from the car that I wanted to apply suede to. I just made sure to bag up all the loose screws and carefully look at everything as I was taking the interior apart BEFORE JUST PULLING ON THINGS AND BREAKING THEM.

After I removed everything from the car I started first by removing the original cloth that was on the parts. I found that the moon roof cover was extremely easy to remove the cloth off of compared to the headliner. In the process of taking off the headliners cloth, the foam tended to remain behind on the board while the cloth came off. This is what gave me my blisters as i was rubbing the foam in the direction I was pulling the cloth off. This kept the foam attached to the cloth more so then on the headliner.

Once I got all of the cloth removed I took out my sanded and made sure that all of the remaining foam was off. I first started scraping it off with a knife then picking at it, then hand sanding it...but remembered about my powered sanded which I found to be the best way to remove the foam.

Next I took the plastic pillars and washed them with degreaser. Upon finishing this I figured that sanding them would allow for better adhesion for the suede. SO I went ahead and sanded all of the pillars.

I have more then enough suede left over to suede the rear shelf and front dash, I plan on doing this BUT have limited time right now as the next few weeks I have some big shows lined up.

Then next morning I work up to a package at the front door! My suede had arrived safe and sound; not to mentions SUPER FAST for free shipping!

I went ahead and got to work around 10am laying the suede and gluing it to the parts. I worked piece by piece with very few brakes between parts and finished everything by 8pm. It was a very long day for myself!

Due to the fact of not having in progress pics I'm just going to post up the end results for everyone to enjoy! If you have and questions or comments please feel free to post them up!!!

    UPDATE:
I finally got the chance to have a friend shoot the car, thxs goes out to Kevin Bandy for the amazing interior picture!
