It was fun about 5-6 years ago and before. The first couple of FD events were decent....now it's just a hipster fanboi hangout. The OG Japanese drifting is actually fun to watch because it's not the boring Americanized crap. To them, it seems to be about driving over the limit and being smooth...it hit Amurrrrika and it suddenly became all about SMOKE! SMOKE! SMOKE! AND MOARRRR SMOKE!!! Knowing how to peroperly drift (not powersliding in the wet) can have some benefits in other motorsports when it comes to reacting to some situations too. Also, I agree that the local events turned into a bunch of broke-ass highschoolers that wanted to proclaim they were "drifters" and spent more time spinning out and wasting everyone else's time - though I can't I've been to a local event recently. It was fun to drive a car outside the friction circle and taking on the challenge of balancing throttle input, brake inputs steeting inputs, gaining and losing grip and making the car do what I wanted it to do...all at the same time.

But what do I know about drifting......
