Default SE-R hits 150+mph at VIR during the Ultimate Track Car Challenge

We entered in the Ultimate Track Car Challenge this year (held at VIR) and even tho we were outclassed, running against Vipers, Porsches and other big motor cars, we placed very, very well. Watch us fight it out with a 700hp Ford GT, not the street legal version.

The overheating issue was solved and by the last session, Big J had tuned the VQ to where I was topping 5th and holding 6th down the back straight. We were pushing the edge of 160mph. With better aero we should see 165+ later this year.

Here we are tearing up the UTCC! Enjoy and please post some comments on youtube. Maybe Nissan Motorsports is watching

Jesus Joe what's the power and weight on that car? 165mph with more aero at VIR, that's absurd fast.

Here are a couple shots from the event. You can see how far forward we moved the radiator to prevent stalling bw the back of the core and the header.

And to make it almost unbearable in the car, it was pushing over a 100deg with the heat index. I was literally drenched after each session. Thankfully we had some shade.

Good driving, and that VQ is going to work.

Will work for food, car parts, or three stripe apparel. And not necessarily in that oder.

Hey Joe, have some more pizza

Updated the bumper and added a splitter for downforce and less drag at Road ATL. Picked up about 15mph on the top end!

I should be starting soon on an unlimited class build to roll out for the 2012 season. 2000lbs, 400ish whp, and no stupid class rule restrictions.

We added a gutted maxima intake and OBX headers and went back to the dyno today. The results are impressive. While peak only changed by 5hp, we picked up 30hp on the top. In a race car, thats massive. Anyone who races and doesnt gut the plenum is missing out. Considering we have only wiseco pistons, NWP spacers, and revup cams, the rest of the motor is essentially stock. Suffice to say I am happy with the results. Many thanks Aaron, UpRev and Z1.

Next event is next weekend at Barber Motorsports Park.

Ive never driven on that track only rode in a 600hp GTR and that's very impressive for making under 300hp.

Keep it going, my buddy Pasha works with your suspension stuff. Hope to see you guys out there. That thing is kick ass.

Yeah that ACR I have would be a PTF car if I ran it as it sits. That's not all I drive though.

uhhh Simon a Miata is probably the most "tracked" car.. in other words more R&D has been done with Miata's than probably any other car (IMO). Hence why you see simple spec cars frequently running mid 1:40's on RA.

On the other side this is a NISSAN SENTRA. How many race teams and track feens are doing development on Sentra's compared with Miata's?

I think a 1:39 flat is VERY impressive considering the time/number of people invested on that particular chassis. Also a 1:39 without a professional driver is moving, for example...
A friend of mine's E39 M5 with bolt on's, SSR's, BBK and R comps, diff etc. managed 1:39 and it was hitting 150+ at RA
Several club racing Porsche's (don't remember the class) form the 80's with roughly the same power have trouble breaking the 1:40 mark. Phaster Phaster on youtube would be a good example. His 87 Carrera 3.2 (full interior,220whp) and a very good suspension set up on Victor racers with a very talented driver is hitting 1:41-1:43 on a good day. Granted it's not caged, probably weighs more and isn't on slicks the P car is still significantly slower then a Sentra that's comparable to JP BMW 325's or Forged's gutted caged 370z when it was out there testing and tuning awhile back (it's probably much faster now)

I'm not saying it's slow, I'm just encouraging them to go faster, I've always loved this car and setup it's unique and works well. I just think they can go faster, I mean it's a V6! lol Lots of potential.

It is a bit faster than any other Sentra I've seen though, I know a B13 SE-R IT car will run around 1:42-43 or so.

The limiting factor isnt the V6, its our grocery gettin' chassis. We run 225 Hoosier R6s on all 4 corners. It weighs over 2,800lbs, has a sold rear axle that binds up badly and puts down 255whp on a good day. We are working on improved roll centers, watts link, etc. But its all just theory, since no one has ever done this before. We had a mid 1:38 until we got caught behind a slow moving C5 in turn 10B. Next year we are hoping for 1:37s with no changes except roll centers.

Here is our 1:39. The charger has 600whp with 315 Hoosiers

And this is where our watts link broke on Saturday. More development needed.
