Last, i was stating what would help Grand Am get better. I think that if it wern't for the Daytona 24 and Watkins Glen 6 hour and drivers like Scott Pruett, i wouln't watch the Grand AM championship. + What is the deal with those Pontiac GXP things? I know they are built by P&M but, they should know unlike Nascar fans, we have some damn sense and can see that thing has nothing to do with the production car. I think Pontiac is pouring so much money into Grand AM that the rules were bent to let it in.
well there will be atleast 2 astons at petit.

as for Grand- Am. great but terrible series. competition is good but dang. The DP cars are like the NASCAR of prototypes. I think its funny that ALMS GT2 cars are faster than DP cars.

That is just ridicules. Look at Japan and the SuperGT GT300 class.

The Mooncraft Shiden is based of the Riley Daytona Prototype, what makes the car interesting, besides the fact it looks 250x better than our DP cars is that it gets to compete against such a variety of competition. From MR-S, IS-F, RX-7, Z33, Vemac, Impreza, 911, Boxster, F430, Garaiya, Corvette, Murcielago, GALLARDO, and BMW Z4.

How do they det it so right, and Grand Am so wrong. I watched the 2007 SuperGT season on a vid i got from GT TV for GT5P and it is fantastic competition. A different car wins almost every race.

Our family friend who lives in Fla. just received his Audi R8 for his B-day. It was a gift from his bosses, he is a personal chef. Fully loaded and paid in full, all he have to do is pay the insurance.

Honestly, though, what's really wrong about DP? The rules seem pretty even, and the cars, while they might not be stupid fast, the racing is pretty good. The series was designed to be a good way for less funded teams to get into a premier series. I think with that in mind the DP program isn't too bad.

Pruett's wreck was pretty massive, but Dorsey Schraeder (sp?) said it best in the commentary before the start of the Grand Am race, that the safety systems of the car all worked, and Scott pretty much walked away from that accident.

He said the day when they went to pick it up, he smiled so hard he needed a facial massage to relieve the tension in his cheeks.

I guess my real gripe with DP cars (besides the look) is that, they are to much like Nascars. Nascar has lots of passing but i still don't watch it.

And even if a Porsche or Ferrari like team made a DP car, i still wouln't be interested. There was a proposed Alfa Romeo years back and i still saw boring DP car. I think that when you run a prototype of any kind, it has to be as fast and as modern as possible. And when you are slower than a GT car, it losses all that. I really liked the SRP1 cars before the DP cars came. It was a car that could compete with LMP1 cars and you would see the two cars competing in events like Sebring and Petit Le Mans. Remember when the Vette team won the Daytona 24? That was a good time cause you could see grea cars compete in more races.

I don't really have a problem with DP, but can see your point EJ25RUN. To me, DP is palatable is that it's basically a spec series, and has been since it's inception. The name Daytona Prototype is a bit misleading when the motivation behind creating the series is considered. They aren't really a true prototype since the cars aren't really being used for development purposes.

I think that good racing takes on several different forms. I'll even go so far as to say that there's some really good racing that occurs in NASCAR. I think that the racing has to be taken in context, though.

What the series has done in my eyes is turned 2 of Americas most prestigious events: Daytona 24 and Watkins Glen 6, into just another event. But if you look at the period between 2000-2003, the Daytona 24 race had as much fanfare world over as Sebring and Le Mans. I think that those two races should go to ALMS (for the sake of those two) or an overhaul is done to the Grand Am series. I realize that taking those two away for Grand Am leaves nothing but they did this to themselves.

No not that either lol. But yes that car is very nice. Hopefully the car I am speaking of is ok in private testing and will race, time will tell.

That's SOOOOOOOO true. Matt and I were talking about that a few weeks ago werent we? Kind of? Watching the In the Air Tonight video on my old VHS LOL

You used to have teams coming JUST for the 24 @ Daytona, some unique cars, stuff like that. But now it's just another race on the Grand Am calander like you said. Grand Am might be great racing, but I just don't like the series that much. ALMS for me is where it's at

Not a hard fix. Let the big 3 realize that it would be a great marketing tool (like racing is supposed to be) and drive brainwashed Nascar fans on to what real stock car racing looks like.

    Chevy - Malibu touring car.
Ford/Volvo - I would say Fusion but so a Volvo, they already have one in WTCC.

Chrysler - Um Epic Fail for not having anything in todays world.

Remember the British built Reynard Dodge Stratus Super Touring II car of the mid 90's? This was the Accords competition. Just look at the double calipers

Lets look at other parts of the world. For Americans in real racing.

Yes i know it is a Suzuki over here but the Lacetti reps Chevy in Macau

Ford FG Falcon (this is next years virgin car so it has yet to be Aeroynamically altered by the teams)

^^ awesome. American cars in both BTCC and WTCC. The only thing we have american in SWC touring car is wilsons SRT-4. The only thing that car has going for it is power so you never see him at the front. I think its time someone steps up and comes to SWC. I just hate to see what was such a good series, go down the drain...

i think im going to make a thread about this...
