Default Transsyberia 2008: Moscow to Mongolia and 6600 Kilometers

Is on Speedtv at 10:00PM Oct 25 2008 I.E. right now.

I was in Europe earlier this year when this was live.

Here is a wiki on the event:

Although the route changes year to year, the TransSyberia Rally has been deemed the ultimate challenge for off-road racing enthusiasts. This year's TransSyberia Rally stretches from Moscow, Russia to the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar. Participants are in the for the experience of a lifetime as the 6,600 kilometer route crosses the Ural Mountains, winds through subarctic forests and goes up the rugged peaks of the Altai Mountains. The endurance of both man and machine are tested as the route continues across the sprawling Mongolian plains and through the Gobi Desert.

Porsche is a huge sponsor of the event and even make a purpose built Cayenne for the event. It's a project similar to the 953 and 959 Dakar winners for them.

Here is their website for the event.

Something similar happened to my roomate and me after watching a SpeedTV special on the Baja 1000. It was made worse when GRM ran an article on the race a few months ago. Perhaps one day...
