Have you ever seen a Z32 Drift? Have you ever drifted a Z32 or driven one hard enough to slide?

They can be easily stripped down to under 3,000 lbs, how much do you think the "VIP" style sedans that are drifting weigh? Yes, a slightly longer wheel base but look at the Miata...they drift fine with the approprate driver correct and compare their wheel base to other vehicles. If you've never seen someone comfortable in a Z32 300zx then you don't know if they are good or bad to drift or not.

Well, you've narrowed it down to 4 different generations of cars: e28, e34, e39, e60/61...?

Actually, a TT Z32 does just fine with drifting. Actually, it's a very smooth car, can make ~400rwhp with minor bolt-ons and tuning and has LSD. I've driven one and it felt great.

As for 240's..... i never knew what anyone meant by "understeer" until i drove one. Those damn things will understeer smack in the middle of a drift lmao. And they're not a dime a dozen, suddenly everyone is proud of the pile of sh!t and wants $2000 for a barely running 89 SOHC thats rusted out and the interior is junked. SR swaps still cost multiple thousands of dollars, and the people with spare KAs are holding onto them to turn a profit on the "kids" who are out there blowing them up all the time.

Depends! Some older 5's had optional LSD's...and came stock in all the M5's.

I don't think it's so much an issue of the wheelbase or weight, I think, and don't quote me on this, but I remember someone saying that Z32 had very very little steering angle. I would think that's an easily fixable problem with the right parts, but I'm not an expert on Z32's.

Weight and their wheel base has always been peoples excuse to why they can't drift in a Z32. What you don't know is those same people can't drift any other car either :tongue:

yes, listen to people who cant do something and tell you it cant be done, is like taking advice from a begger on how to be rich.

your auto is 300000lbs is fine to drift.

your bmw 698899 with soft suspension and open diff is fine to drift..

you have to manipulate the balance and speed alittle, adjust throttle control and brakes, and turn faster...

may not the prettiest and not the longest drift but you can certainly do it.

however, you may develop bad habits from this and i have to advice you to get upgrades on your suspension, lsd, and alignment tuning...etc

i m just telling you to get out there and learn on the track coz you learn faster and understand the flaws, weakness, and strength of your driving and the car. and have fun doing so of course.

go out and enjoy your car, drive and learn how to drift and understand why and what, are good platforms, how to tune suspension, how to drift an auto, how to drift on crap alignment, how to adjust and adapt to different feel, car, tires....etc..

just get out there and smoke that shiat!

I think a lot of the "you can't drift a Z32" comes from people who seem to forget about the HICAS system....

open diff on a E39 5. Go buy a limited slip if you want anything accomplished. This is comming from a previous 540i/6 owner who worked at a driving school which taught "holding slides" on skidpads/figure 8's/autocross and did "parent rides" on the afternoons with an open diff and a limited slip. When we wet the courses it was a blast..and drifting around a dry autrocross was easily accomplished with 300+ rwtq but anything hardcore sideways would have to be done at high speed in the dry to make up for the one wheel peel and the car would literally have to be chucked to get it at an angle. It was also really tricky to control and hold with one wheel and couldn't be done for long. I also blew my stock 2.81 open rear in the end doing these slides intentionally (had the new 3.15 in the garage). Oh well it was funny...

You have a 528i. You need an E30 or something you can slam and put stiff suspension on with no weight. You could make the 5 a fun wet drift car with an LSD for spirited wet power slides but thats about it short of tearing it down and adding alot of power to make up for the weight. Ideally you'd want to supercharge it or do a low lag T.R.M style turbo kit and some coil overs with very stiff spring rates to get it to where you could actually do some events with it successfully.

i was just about to mention that whole super hicas bs... its dangerous not to tell these kids to mess with "drifting" w/o disabling it.

if you can drift a crown vic , a semi truck, an 18 wheeler, a dually, a horse, a motorcycle, chicken soup, u can drift just about anything.

wont be the best, but you can... what was the question again?
