Default turbo e30 drift drag time

well guys and girls the turbo e30 drift car you saw posted by autofab ran a 13.9 at 101. i dont think that was half bad considering the track is poorly prepped and ive never drag raced before. not to mention the thick moist air down here is messing with my tune. i think i could run a 13.5 with some seat time.

it spun a little bit and i had like three spare rims in the trunk with a bunch of tools. yeah i nahn reaction was like .952. another big thing is i was letting off before i was supposed to. like i thought once you passed the time signs you were done but you actually supposed to go father down and lights come on saying slow down. i figured this out my last run which i spun out of the hole for like the first 60 and ran 14.1 at 104 when my best run where i let off early i ran 13.9 at 101. soo oops

Curb weight in stock form is over 2,700lbs, knocking off 800lb would be quite a feat. If it was indeed down to 1,900 then that would make the one i'm building under 5.27lbs p/ hp on LOW boost...or 6% lighter/better than a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, lol

The 599 IS my goal for power to weight but it's going to be at least 1 bar boost just to match it, who knows what 1.5bar will do

It's not completely stock, it's a 325e block (M20B27 - 2.7L) and a 325i head (M20B25 - 2.5L) with a standalone EFI...making it a torque monster. It's 280hp/335lbs-ft. torque @ 13lbs but the topend can't breath well on the lil M20's so it's difficult to get much more out of it but it is possible...but really at 2,200 lbs with a cage you don't need much more than that and still maintain traction.

I just picked up a M52b28 (328i) i'm putting in one, stock numbers are 193hp 207lbs-ft. torque and planning to run a GT30R on it. The turbo maxes out at 500 crank but 360-420whp is more than enough for me...plus @ 10lbs full spool should be under 2,600 rpm's. Could run a GT35R and still have a full spool around or under 3k rpm's but it's a little more aggresive than I want and just about useless on a road course or mtn run. There have been several stock M52b28's making well over 600hp with at least one (1) breaking 700whp with just a head gasket and ARP headstuds...after a full day on the dyno it finally bent a rod.

like he said its a torque monster traction is my only problem. but you also gotta keep in mind this is a highway car. "other than its instability above 140 because of drift set suspension". ive got a 293 rear end in it. so this thing on the highway is gone.

It's definitely meant for highway runs more than drag...the 2.93 allows it to get close to 160mph in 4th gear Your car is what made me want that rear end and luckily it came with the 328i i just picked up. I've seen them with the 3.15 and it's still too short to stretch out the turbo and i don't think you'd ever get traction with street tires anyways.

Is that with the same street tires on the team dynamics wheels? If so that's not really too bad, if you're getting wheel hop just need to learn how to slip the clutch a little more off the line...

yeah mean i now want a 2.93 on my convertible to. the wheel hop wasnt bad its was a low launch. like 2k or 2500 but im gonna get some cheap tires soon. i love the yokohamas but i dont got the money to replace them cause there soft and grippy and i like smoking tires.
