I'm thinking about going to the Turner event. I haven't been to an AR autocross, yet.

I think several of the Clemson peeps will be there, too.

Soo, is there some kind of vehicle inspection n whatnot before you can get on the track? or is it just a ''run what ya brung'' type thing?

Yeah, $40 for non-members, it'll be a blast. I'll be out there with my Mazda on my RE-01Rs, provided the TireRack comes through with their promise and I can get them mounted on my car before paying my boss for them.

    hmm....brakes...might be a prob.

My rears lock up a lil bit when you push too hard on em...

what else is involved in the 'tech' to pass?

Tech is all about making sure you've got a safe car so everyone can race and not stop to push your junk off the course. As long as it's in safe daily driving condition you should pass. You can read the FAQs over at www.soloatlanta.com

Trust me, it's not that hard to do. We've got helmets for borrowing. Just strip your car down, take out everything that isn't bolted down, take off any wheel caps or hubcaps you've got, make sure you're not leaking any fluids. Basic stuff.

so what class would an SR powered S13 fit into? Also what safety equipment is required? Does the battery need a special box or a disconnect if its mounted in the trunk?

You can download a free rulebook check out www.scca.org or if you want to just have fun, enter as Time Only.

As for saftey equipment, helmet, working seatbelts, and seat mounted right. If its stock its fine. I am not sure about the battery thing, my Miata battery is just in the trunk no box, stock though? Not sure, it passed tech.

Ok I think I have the registration thing figured out. So in the novice class how many runs do you get to make and how long do you have to work at the track as a volunteer during the course of the day?

Novice is same as regular, so like 3-4 runs. You work one "group" and race the next or the other way around. Depends class and run order that weekend. You just pick up cones, get up close and personal on course

So you only get to make 3-4 runs in the whole day? That doesnt sound very exciting

You dont stay the whole day, you have a morning group and afternoon group, split into class groups like work one run one. Half the excitement is being able to adapt to the track fast enough to set a good time with no practice.
