If you use these with stock struts they will make the struts blow out, as the springs are putting more stress on the struts than they were designed for. You're better off using shocks/springs that were designed to work together.
I'm suspicious of anything aluminum with threads on it.
Do they not have cheap spring/strut kits for the Hondas? I got a set of matched springs/struts for my VW for $450. The only advantage of coilovers over stiffer springs/struts is the ability to adjust your ride height, and the added clearance for wheels over 8" or so wide.
i got the megan racing sleeves and springs not the full coilovers
and my shocks blew out
so i got some tokico blues about 4 or 5 months ago and have been fine since
handles very well and kinda bouncy but it doesnt bother me.
and this is on a DA

Just got done putting the cheap no name Ebay coilovers on my fat ass accord..2.5" in the back and 3"in the front. rides fine with shocks ect. but it is bumpy after u hit a dip in the road. cheap way of lowering ur car. no problems for me.and my 3200lbs carr.ha
u should hv done 2.5'' in front and 3'' in back
i tryed but the lowest the back wnt was 2.5 and the front dropped 3" orginally 5" in front droped it 3" so theres 2" wheel wellOriginally Posted by TRDwasiq
as the adage goes: you get what you pay for
in all honesty i had ebay coils on my prelude, they sucked, waste of $40
just take the hit and get brand name if you want a good ride with good handling
but if you dont care about your kidneys then get the ebays and pay your medical bills later...

I'll buy the ABS pvc that is is much stronger than standard pvc, im sure it would take well over 400lbs+ of force onto them to actually get them to shatter. Pretty ghetto but its bound to help a little.

So about the PVC idea? yes/no? maybe use steel tubing instead?

i got ebays on my rear, squeaky and bouncy, ghetto as hell, nice match with my ebay muffler though.
Just save up for maybe like one more week and get these

the answer to all of your problems at only $180 for a brand name
Why replace any spring if you're not going to upgrade your shocks? There's plenty of people on here or honda-tech or team-integra or wherever that have used spring & shock combos or even full coil-over dampeners that they've upgraded from. Save up and get something that is guaranteed to work.
i have the skunk2 pros on my dc and my buddy has the coil sleeves on his da. bumpy, but not bouncy. stiff as hell, but my last car had springs only.
when i buy ebay shit i never get brand i never heard of. i go for stuff like tein n shit
but sometime they might fuck u over like my friend. he brought some kyb shocks n they were stock painted red with stickers haha
Half of you guys probably had the stock front strut bottoming out if you were cranking it down all the way, that's why the ride was bumpy.
It's a really good idea to get a strut that is designed for a lowered height. You have an endless choice when it comes to springs, just make sure you have a good strut.
Koni's FTW

Simon, what kind of struts did you EG have?

If you want to lower the car why get the coilovers? Why not just get the cheapo lowering springs?
^he cant lower it as much as he wants he has to control the ride height
specify when you say EBAY. ebay sells teins, hks, eibach as well and not only cheap springs. yes you'll get these springs for a fraction at retail stores and they work great depending on what you get. if you get the cheap no name brand springs for $50 than you get what you pay for.
everyone has to be so negative when they hear EBAY items. i bought a set of skunk 2 for my crx with 4 way KYB's for $500 and they work awesome on my little crx. i did have cheap ebay coilovers on my crx with GR2's and they weren't bad. springs make somewhat of a difference but you'll need struts/shocks as well to take it to the next level.
Here's something else to consider if you want to autocross. Any coilover sleeve or lowering spring is going to move you out of a stock class for autocross. This might put you into a class where your car won't be competitive and can make the learning curve much steeper.
The same thing applies to the rear sway bar, as well.
If you're really serious about beginning to autocross, then take the car in bone stock form and begin learning from there. If you get really bitten by the auto-x bug, then start talking to people about what does/doesn't work. The mods you want to do will change how the car does on course quite a bit. For example, the rear bar could make the car snap oversteer.
He wont win no matter what class he is in he can just go ahead and join a Prepared classOriginally Posted by StraightSix

Ebay's arn't bumpy you squealing pussies that say they are. Ebay's are going to be bumpy when you have your car slammed on stock shocks, but if you give the shock room to travel, and don't slam it, it's NOT that bouncy of a ride. I have them only in the rear right now just to see how it would handle, and there is only a TINY difference in ride comfort going down the road, so small that if I had not known about the spring change I would never suspect it.

^^ what he said
you get what you pay for
he paid for them and likes them lol
i have some lasted me a long time and betting on them pretty hard nothing has happend yet.
i didnt feel like reading this whole thread, BUT since you posted in the COMPETITION forum im assuming you're asking from a performance standpoint, in which case:
springs, not "coilovers" but springs. ebay, sure they are a spring, hard to **** up leading to failure but proper performance probably not. but again, hard to **** up a spring.
"coilovers"
a spring with a shiny thingy (aka aluminum perch) gets easier to **** up. cheap/thin metal = break, uncoated sleeves = rust into place etc. bad idea all together imo.
now what you dont want to hear since you are shopping on ebay.
if you want to get into racing then you need to quit being such a cheap ass. theres no problem with being a cheap ass, just to an extent.
if you want to get into any form of competition basic maintenance is rule #1.
make sure your car is in 100% lexus certified pre owned condition. no rotted bushings, no fluid leaks, no ghetto ****, good oil pressure, cooling system etc in good shape.
then start modding from there.
imo tires 1st, if not a performance oriented wheel/tire package, which can consist of used aluminum 15's you bought for 100 bux from the junkyard and some cheap performance tires or something, not HRE's and hoosiers like everyone thinks for starters.
then get some sway bars/brake pads/clutch/real coilovers etc.
if you want to know what to run specifically, actually go race your car and you'll end up meeting people that will personally be more than happy to point you in the right direction.
the ebay coilovers arent as bad as everybody says. the only way they will bounce alot is if you have REALLY sh*tty shocks, or your car is too low. the springs wont be as high quality as eibach, tein, or any other name brand.
IMO, youre better off buying the coilovers AND new name brand springs. cheap adjustability + good spring rates is what your looking for. and dont go cheapo on shocks. while ohlins and motons might be out of the budget, you dont want cheap shocks. KONI FTW.
as far as autocrossing goes, autox your car in stock form first, and go from there. theres ALWAYS plenty of helpful people at those events.
