I have. It is right next door to the Wyndham Hotel (I think that's the name) which across from River Walk.

We used it when we went to a car show which was inside the convention center. We had more than the required 1/4 tank minimum, so they told us to go "burn it off" there. The long sweeping turn is banked and the straight away is about 1/4-1/2 mi long. I know it was marked off for the 1/4, although fast cars would have a little less room to slow down before entering the big sweeper.

Admin aka Paul was with me and he can attest to it. He drove our friends stock Accord and had it screaming around the turns.

It's a super awesome place since it's just a deserted track, although last time I was down there they had concrete barriers blocking the entrance.

So in short....it certainly does exist and I enjoyed the heck out of it.

    Great find. +1 for you.

Also, what you see in the upper left hand corner is a golf course which belongs to the Wyndham resort. That square thing on the corner of a long field is a big storage building with an office. They run the course maintainance out of there.

It was funny. When we would come around that area, of course we'd have to slow down, but they must've known what we were doing because they would just give us these loooonggg stares.

Man, this brings back some good memories..... I loved that track. Nobody on there but me and Paul....that was fun.

I did get below 1/4 tank BTW.....

it was used right after the hotel and convention center were built to house a le mans race (or a type of race like that) and now the area where the garages are is used for SCCA autoX events. But it exists and i wish someone would save it!

Correction.....it was the WESTIN, not Wyndham resort. My mistake.

Beautiful hotel BTW. Right on the river, right next door to the convention center, ferry to take you across the way to party......cool place.

Amen to that!!! I'm hoping it will be "accessible" next time I go down for the show down in Savannah. I had a blast on it. Tires and brakes were never the same.....but I had a blast....

When Paul finds this thread he'll tell yall. We wanted to go back down there later with his other car. We'll never get to do that now since he's sold it...

This is called Hutchinson Island Course. It's a city street style race track that is about 2 miles long. It's an abandoned F1 track that the SCCA uses for a Solo II event. Later, QD.

Been on it as well...99% of the time it's fenced off.

It wasn't an F1 course...too small and narrow. I've heard it was meant for motorcycles.

When I was on it, it as after an auto-x, we went around it as we left...couldn't go fast since it was covered in sand.

Bucaneer Region SCCA used it for a little while too I believe. But other than that, it was pretty much a big failure. apparently it just wasnt fun to drive.
my boss raced there back in the day.
