he was talking about GSM frequency bands. A quad band phone is supposed to accept bands of 850mhz 900mhz 1800mhz and 1900mhz

if this phone is unable to pick up 850mhz then it will not work with Tmobile either.

the two most common GSM bands used in the Southeast are 850 and 1900mhz

you need the phone to be able to receive both bands for it to work with US GSM providers.

you do not need to have both bands..... i have used nokia 8800 carbon arte and its a triband phone that has 900 1800 and 1900. atnt is known for having problems covering triband phones in some areas, so i am assuming its in your area that its not working. does it say no service or does it say incorrect sim card?

I traded the phone for an att phone to a guy with tmobile. He said he could not get the phone to work. Said the phone said it could not read sim. I am trading back with him because that is only fair. If anyone can help me figure out how the helk to use this phone I would really appreciate it. Iwant to get rid of it even if I do figure it out cause I want an easier phone to use. So many options on that phone..... Any help would be great.... Thx guys

tmobile uses 1900 as a roaming and backup band, its primary band is 850mhz.
This is true for all edge networks in the southeast. Up northwest 1900 is more common, while 850 is the backup and roaming band.

Dub Girl, I can take a look at the phone for you, see whats up, but no promises.
