i won tlie i like them, It has a big motor in it 3.8 V6..thats a plus. Id get one .

I saw one today on the road. Real crazy looking. Real fast it looks just like the prototype when you glance at it. Same color and all
my bad..the pic i posted is from the 04 concept version...but as you can see, the 06 draws many lines from it.
I guess I like the look of them....but I still like the way 2g look better. the '06 has some styling from 2g but the back end looks a little too much like a cougar to me. I'm not diggin on the engine at all, I mean it might make a good daily driver but that is where it stops.
That motor is huge..3.8L V6 for a sport compact. What do they run stock so far?
ummm....yea, thanks alot mitsu, that car sucks, 1g/2g are the real eclipses, this 3/4th gen blows balls, theyre lucky they were smart enough to release the evo stateside or theyd be out of business by now
You got your opinion, but that car is hot. 2nd gens are nice....but i like the stylin of this better, hell I just like this car more.
I think the 4g63 motor is pretty ancient...they needed to get rid of it. Great motor but...time to move on. Eclipses have always been wild lookin cars when they first release.
looks like a Merc Cougar had some serious sex with an Audi TT, then after the candles started to burn down the Nissan 350Z and Scion tc joined in the wild sex. Unfortunately they all came in mama Cougar so she gave birth to the Eclipse.

I like all Gen Eclipse's. The 4G will run mid 14's in the quarter stock.
Well let us look at it like this 2 examples: (stock)
05 Lancer Evo VIII RS 2.0L turbo I4; 276hp curb weight 3400lbs
06 Eclipse GT 3.8L N/A V6; 263hp curb weight 3800lbs
my daily driver:
05 Maxima 3.5L V6; 265hp curb weight 3500lbs
The car weighs more than a Maxima (Fat sedan!!) the eclipse keeps on getting bigger and bigger. Mitsu should not have built this car on the Galant/Outlander platform. I know they are in financial peril, but it the Eclipse should be their affordable sports coupe and should have been built as one from the ground up. just my 2 cents

actually not quite. Mitsu is in dire straights, but even though we as automobile enthusiasts can't stand the 3g/4g eclipses (its a heavy, unsporty pig IMHO), other people love it. They rave about the styling, the smooth engine, the comfort factor. All things that a heavy, semi-sporty vehicle would have. Mitsu has been trying to capture the female demographic with this new eclipse and to a large degree, they were successful. Look at who drives 3g and 4g eclipses. The new eclipse is actually selling quite well and the changes that were made, much to our chagrin as tuners, those outside of our circle liked, so it got heavier and larger, the v6 got bigger (rather than a turbo 4), awd still hasn't returned and the suspension is just as mushy as it has been.
ugly as pis and doesnt deserve the eclipse name
