I'm just afraid of the sanding marks not coming out...when i did matts car i compounded w/ a light cut compound and should really have used a heavier cut compound but they dont recommend it w/ my porter cable DA polisher, you are suppose to use the heavy compound w/ a rotary buffer. I have never used a rotary polisher before. anyone have one i can borrow next weekend w/ experiece and come supervise to make sure i dont fuck up the new paint?
you do need a rotary polisher to get all the sand scratches out....i have never tried using a DA though. If you do get your hands on a rotary, be very careful. Tape up your edges and go slow. The compound you use really doesnt make a difference, its the pad. Most compounds say it will cover up 1200+ scratches with a heavy cutting pad...and 1500+ with a medium or light cutting pad. I would come over and let you borrow mine but im am only in town for 2 days a week and i am busy as hell. But when you wetsand, use a block or else it will look wavy. If you have any more questions send me a pm.
