i finally figured out how to keep from getting that nasty shadow when doing the motion filter (or any of the other blurs), i'm a dumbass...simply lasso it (just like when you are going to desturate the bg) but remember to layer via cut and not via copy. Then using the smudge tool pull the bg into the white space that was created earlier. Then when you use the filters on it there is no halo effect.

2nd one...i like the color, not the motion blur - a car with visibly no one in it sorta kills it. but then again, i'm not a fan of motion blur. i think if you darkened the windows a bit, so that you couldn't tell that there is no one there, would help the motion effect.
heh... if you look at the hatch, I darked the rear widnows slightly, but never finshed the job.

hmm... I don't use the lasso to desaturate the background, but hmmm I'll give that a shot, I'm still a photoshop newb. thanks for the advice.

i think if you darken both the front and rear windows, so you can't tell if someone's driving, it will help the effect of motion. in a sense, it would look as though the cars are racing each other.
