Yeah but the kodak is just not up to par. The manual controls are very limited (i.e. the longest shutter speed I can set is 8sec). It's full of "easy share" junk that I neither want nor need. The canon's that I'm looking into are far better cameras. Plus as you mentioned, there will be less of a learning curve since I'm used to canons. Although I might look into nikon and see what cameras they have in the same price range.

If you want to look at Nikon then look at the Coolpix 8700, that was the camera I had before I got the 350D. I sold that one to Nemesis after only having it for a little over two months cause I could not get the shots I wanted. It is a great camera once you learn how to use it and have seen some amazing pics from it. There is an 8800 that has IS and I think a little more zoom but it is kind of pricey. One thing to think about as you get up in price is that you are getting close to some of the lower end DSLR's like the Nikon D50. While it might be a good idea to go with a DSLR you have to take into consideration the lenses that you will want to buy to get better shots where as a point and shoot can cover most of the bases without breaking the bank. I am finding that out now

And remember to roll your windows up next time

Well I just bought a canon pro1 got a good deal on it. It's basically as close to a dlsr as you can get wthout being a dslr. It's got the "L-lens" like the eos's do and you can cbuy new lens if needed/wanted.

My car alarm has passive arming, and even though that feature isn't enabled, I don't like to leave the windows up when the keys are in the car (never know when it's going to lock me out with the car running). Didn't think about it though, I should have just rolled the window all the way down..oh well
