Default My new build: '92 XJ

I picked this up today, as some may know I work with a Jeep company. So it's almost natural I ended up with one.

    Rundown:

    1992 Laredo
    -4.0L/auto
    4x4
    HP Dana30/Dana 35
    Tow Package
Has 235k on the body today but has 80k on the '95 engine.

    Needs:

    Driver tail light.
    Passenger door hinge tack welded.
    Radio.
    Misc. hardware for the dash/interior.
    Brakes.

The tires that were on it were practically slicks and were puny 205/60/15s and I got some 255/70/15s mounted and balanced for $130. The wheels weren't balanced originally and after I got that taken care of it drove straight as an arrow.

    On to pictures!

I hope to have some updates soon!

Hrm...not quite sure on the specifics, but bumpers/lift/wheels/tires. Just the basics and then I'll add my personal touches here and there. I'm thinking of doing a 30 spline hub conversion on the HP Dana 30 with chromoly shafts/upgraded ujoints and a selectable locker with similar upgrades for the rear. But if I can find a deal on a Dana 44 F/R setup that'd be ideal.

Unless you are planning on going crawling, just throw a 99-00 8.25 in the rear and lock the front 30. With some good tires you will go alot further than you think.

Great lookin xj! I loved both of mine.

Awesome! We'll see, I can get the hub conversion/shafts and such at work. But nothing is concrete at the moment, I'm just going to do some maintenance on it and go from there.

Installed a Rugged Ridge intake and throttle body spacer, they aren't really made to work together in the sense the isolator won't meet the head shield. But I finagled it to work. Sounds good and the throttle response is noticeably better!

Nice! The 4.0 responds really well to this stuff. Throw on a edlebrock shorty header and a 2.5" exhaust to a flowmaster and this really helps it breathe.

Awesome pick up man I work for a DCJ dealership and from what I see day in and day out, the 4.0's are nearly bulletproof.

Thanks fellas! I have more in store!

I installed some Rugged Ridge vent shades. Also put in two new hatch struts (only had one worn one) and a double cup holder. Must haves! A great deal on the front half of a lift fell in my lap, so it looks like I'll be looking into some leafs for the rear soon. I'm also getting a set of 5 of d-window wheels with worn 31s for the low.

    5 15x8s with 31s and a hi lift.

I also replaced the alternator, battery, terminals, cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires, and fixed a few odds and ends.

What lift are you gonna go with?

Stay away from RC and spend the money on rustys or claytons. Never heard a bad word on either but i had nothing but problems out of my rough country short arms.

I'll be using our ORV 3 inch kit with with someone else's 4.5 inch leafs. I've got a 2 inch poly spacer for the front so it'll level out when a bumper/winch goes on. If I need more for the rear I'll use a Comanche shackle to get another 3/4 - 1 inch.

It was pissing oil so I replaced the oil pressure switch and went ahead and swapped my worn clutch fan. I also ordered my leaf springs and adjustable rear shackles today. All I need is extended brake lines now. Everything else is sitting around waiting!
