Default GT's Wreck Racing Team at Caffeine and Octane

    Hello all,

My name is Jonathan Bowen, and I am the Vice President of Georgia Tech's Wreck Racing team. We are a student organization that competes in the annual Grassroots Motorsports $200x Challenge, where we buy and build cars that compete in autocross, drag racing, and concours judging against some of the best tuning shops and individuals in the country. We also participate in various track racing events like GRM's Ultimate Track Car Challenge.

We are bringing our $2010 Challenge-winning supercharged V8 Miata to Caffeine and Octane this Sunday. Come check us out along with all the other great cars. Thanks!

Is that the one with the 1uzfe and the motorcycle windshield? if so, I talked to one of the guys on the team at the varsity a couple years back.

Oh and btw, SPSU is trying to start a grassroots team. if/when it happens, we're coming after you!

We are always pushing to get other schools to compete. This year I think at least one other will be there. One of my friends from the MR2 community, Nate, goes to SPSU, and he has contacted me about this. We are supposed to meet with him next week for a Q&A session.

Awesome! I was just talking about Nate yesterday. I don't know him personally, but I know alot of the FSAE guys, so I hear his name from time to time. He was working on a clutched supercharger for his mr2 for a while, any idea if he got it running?

Thanks for the kind words everyone. And for those wondering, the wing is indeed functional. It creates 500 lb. of downforce at 120 mph. It was put on for the Ultimate Track Car Challenge, which is where those pictures were taken.

Also, I forgot to mention that a few items on the car are not part of the $2000 budget. The roll cage (bolt-in), harnesses, fire suppression system, and a few other items are not counted per the comp. rules. In addition, we do not run the pictured Sparco seat in the $200x Challenge.

    Which car was yours?

That sucked about the drag. I think the results would have been quite different, not so much for our team, but for a few other teams.
