In 1965 Mustangs won 5 of the 6 SCCA division championships in action.
A Mustang won its first road car championship in 1970.
A Mustang was the first domestic car ever to win the showroom stock championship in SCCA.
1986 a Mustang won the GT endurance championship.
1987 a Mustang won the 24 hour Daytona race.
1989 a Mustang won the Trans-AM championship with a rookie driver.
1997 a Mustang won 11 consecutive races to win the Trans-AM championship.
Ford Mustang history falls off a bit here because of Steeda.... Ford doesnt like to claim Steeda's victories since Steeda has more racing championships than Ford/SVT/Roush/Saleen/Shelby combined.
I could make a list of the championships Steeda Autosports Mustangs have won in their last 23 years of racing.... but it would be much easier to tell you what they DIDNT win.
a grammy... about it.
