Default Sold the Jetta. Bought a Jetta.

I recently purchased a bone stock 1997 GLX after selling my Mk4 to help pay some bills. Anyway, I've had her just over a month and there will be progress, just slow progress. Forums here have been far better overall, so thanks already for all the info and help.

I have set a budget for overall money spent on mods that will not go past what I paid for the car so I am going for bang/Buck mods.

    So far:
    -Racelands
-Muffler cut off and extended straight pipe
-Retro-fit HID and Joey Mod'd Headlights
-Tinted turns and dummys (Missing one foglight glass. Will be Joey'd when acquired)

    With tinted turns

Reference to Mk4 so you will know the quality of the build regardless of the budget.

Not a fan of that body style, but nothing wrong with getting some bills paid! Not like you picked up a piece of shit, though, lol.

Remove the tint on the turns.... Immediately. Off to a good start otherwise. Later, QD.

Ya I was just fucking around before buying some oem amber turns with oem smoked long fogs. Checking to see the look with black housing headlights.

So adding coilovers and wheels makes for a quality build (referencing the mkiv)?
Adding racelands and just cutting off the muffler does not seem like a good start towards a quality build, IMO.

Yep. See any replica or fake parts? See any corners really cut?

There is a thing called a budget and I'm sticking to mine. Ya, I could go buy some h&r coils, but why spend half what I paid for the car just on that? Also the suitcase delete is very common and for $50 you cant beat the sound. Spending less money on some things will allow me to spend more on the things that really matter to me. i.e. Real quality wheels. It may not be a "build" by some standards but it is a pretty damn good start to me and thats all that matters.

Fail to see the upgrade here.

Love this body style. There is nothing wrong with building on a budget.

Ya, me either. Getting some replacement stuff soon though. Here is a shitty side profile shot. The rear has come up and the front down since then.

It is a VW thing. Look at my mk4 it was the same way. You can buy kits to fix it but I guess it is part of what makes us unique.

I like the mk3 body style alot more. What's in the budget for wheels? It would look right on a set of Type A's or polished salad shooters

The wheels will make up the majority of the budget most likely. You have seen my other cars, I do not do fake/repro wheels so I am looking for either some more futuras but in 16" or something else classy. If I were to go with borbets though I would probably swing toward type E or T. So far I have about 450 of my 2500 budget gone.

The quality of the build? The previous car was clean but looked like it just had a drop and wheels. The new one looks goofy being that low. With a new paint job and wheels the new car could look fresh.
