That looks like a giant bore for your little car. That thing must scoot. Whats the rebuild gonna be?

I saw what happened on FB man. I know that must have sucked. But I'm glad you're making the best of it. Best of luck with the build. Can't wait to see how everything turns out!

By the way, did you figure out for sure exactly what caused the motor to F up?

Nothing crazy basically a stock rebuild with some new parts. I can't afford forged so I'm just going to use some rods out of another motor I have. Going to mill the heads to gain a little compression, and possibly port the heads too.

And James it was a stuck open injector. Hydrolocked the motor basically.

Read posts #6 and #10. It's a DD and he just needs a running motor more than anything.

    Is that a 3L?!

Its a tiny 2.5L. It gets the job done though because my car is relatively light. Its around 2250lbs.

Nice. If it's compatible, a 3L from the Taurus would be stout. 3L swaps are common among the Contour chassis.

    That is.......in the future anyways.

the Vulcan 3L isnt a bad engine at all, but imo it wouldnt be considered an upgrade to me. its larger(heavier), and makes less power and torque than my KL does stock for stock. also since the KL has a short stroke for a V6 it revs decently high.

lol. I can't go more than .020 without a tune or adjustable cam gears which don't exist. Timing would be off without it/them.

Will do. I'm guessing its common with side feed injectors. I've never heard of it until I got into these motors.

Same reason I went from my 2.2L sohc to 2.0dohc. Better power stock to stock, and revs 1k higher.

    Any twin turbo'd KLs?

there are a few floating around Austrailia. Never seen any in the states. one of the most popular ones is in a holden commodore. makes something like 800whp on 28lbs. revs to 9,500rpms.

hopefully in the next few weeks. its pretty much a waiting game right now. im getting the heads shaved, but i cant get the heads back until i get the gasket set which hasnt come in yet, because im getting valve seals done too.

my piston rings and my adjustable fuel pressure regulator came in today. thats about it.
