Default 6-7-10 International AllStars Wide-Bodied Super-Charged Mazda Miata Dyno Tune Day

Went with John Marsh of Team International AllStars to get his Wide-bodied and Super-charged Mazda Miata he's been working on for a while dyno tuned up at Forged Performance in Marietta, GA. Sharif Abdelbaset and his staff are stand up people and definitely are doing things right. Just by looking around the lot and the garage there are some serious build going on as well as the normal maintenance jobs too. Cars from all over the states are getting work done here. Forged Performance is where it’s at!

I woke up a tad bit late so I ended up meeting John at Forged rather than rolling up with him in the dually. Of course I got stuck in Monday traffic.

    John pulling up

Pulled into Piccadilly but soon realized that they were actually kinda open for business.

Big ole dually trailering a Miata?

Got the car out and ready to roll

Scott Siegel was the point man for this trip. He spent a good 3 hours on the Miata but 30 mins of that was troubleshooting. We got things working in the end and it was smooth sailing from there.

John signing his life away lol

Forged Performance guard dog on duty! Caution will lick haha what an awesome dog. So well tempered and was super friendly

Got the Miata up on the Dyno Dynamics Dyno

While they were setting up all the gizmos and gadgets on the motor and computers I got a few shots of my fellow team mate’s car. Nico Figueroa has his ride up at Forged getting some motor work done. After this phase it will go up to American Radio to get some tunes installed and then off to the body shop. Definitely keep your eyes peeled for this project!

    Almost ready

Dyno fan looks like a ginourmous Advan doesn’t it lol

    The boss’ whip

You’ve probably seen this car sliding around at local drift events

Bing (Veritek) was there too to join in the festivities

    Zoom Zoom

John lookin in on the tune

    Not too shabby.

Scott said that for this Dyno Dynamics reading add 15% to the numbers and that is what you get elsewhere.

lol funny pic of John. Looks like he is really concerned or something

One last run to make sure everything is working ok. Lol at 1:54 hahaha

    155.1 HP and 144.2 TQ

Time to load her up and get outta here!

Thanks again to everyone up at Forged for the great work and shop tour!

Met up with my boy Jordan (Rollininstyle2004) to do some shoe shoppin up at Ambush and got a few rollin shots!

I hate to be that asshole, but

eBay called. Something about head lights, bumpers, and body work.

    Awesome write-up and pictorial, though!

BIG thanks Tony for coming, helping, hanging out, and taking pics.

155 WHP on a 1992 Miata is pretty strong actually. Moss/Jackson racing lists is around 145 or so.
2 years ago, the car dyno'ed (at Top Speed) at 104 whp...with exhaust and intake. Most of the Miatas are under 100 whp stock...many near 92 or 93 whp. So, a 50% increase is perfect for me.

Body work: its a work in progress. AWR widebody with a replica JDM front a rear bumper. I still have a way to go. Bumpers are in white primer....
Headlights: AAC with carbon fiber buckets. I like them.
intake: not made yet, so what is pictured is temporary. Needed to have some sort of filter, and I wanted it further away from the supercharger. Filter happens to be a stock filter for a prelude with BS flex tubing....cheap and effective unti a cold air is fabricated.

Wheels: Axis Racer-X 15x8 with -27 offset. Yes, negative offset.

Catnip: thanks for not being "that" guy.... I aprreciate your opinion....its all good.

I'm just wondering why it had to be brought on a trailer. It looks perfectly drivable to me. Seems like a waste of gas to bring that big as truck there.

registration may not be current, may not have insurance, may have insurance and have more money in the car than any insurance company will give him if totaled, maybe didn't want to get up there and something go wrong and be stuck with a busted car.....there are many many reasons why people trailer cars that appear to be driveable

btw....anyone know if Foreged works on nissans?

    This is John....
I trailered the car since it had not really run in MANY months...the last time it ran, there were some wierd gremlins.
The tags expired in January 2009. No emissions.
A car with a newly installed SC kit, and a stand alone ECU......not gonna run (very well) until its tuned....

Insurance is NOT the issue. I have good insurance on all my cars.

Considering the car was 92-95whp when I bought it, and now its 155whp, I am very pleased. Mathematically, that is a 61% increase.

It has some potential. Looks like this guy takes care of his cars. I hope you aren't sticking with that rear bumper though. Its hideous imo.

Yakota....I appreciate your enthusiastic opinion. I feel the same way about he BRS kit as you do the AWR kit. Deal with it.

Not sure I ever said the body work was done....its not. You don't like it, that is fine by me.

Turbo? No thanks.....I am happy with the power the car has now. I have a decent sized turbo on 2 other vehicles..... I have never owned a SC car, so I wanted to try it.

    Thanks.

You running megasquirt? Suede looks awesome on the 90-93 dash, and the power isn't bad at all especially when looking at your curves.

For those downplaying the final whp numbers, are you guys serious?! Think about the power to weight ratio and the type of dyno being used before you post!! Not all dynos are created equal, and Forged's dyno is pretty conservative compared to others. Congrats John on the final numbers!!
