    Default Rally Civic... on a budget...

    so here is a little back story, there is a race at an offroad park and they are building a "bomber" rally track, so we decided to build a car for this race... here is our progress... the idea is everyone at the shop throws in there time and we build it on the cheap... we are in this for under $600 cash so far... i need some OEM fans and a ragged out racing seat if you have anything lmk...

    this is what we started w/... yes this kid drove this car like this, he was a dull pencil if you know what i mean... and yes he kept it full of trash and shit...






    new lower control arms, this was to effectively lower the spring rate so that is will have a softer rear suspension... we lifted the car 2.5" overall...



    the cage... still have to build the drivers door bars, but i will wait until last for that...





    after the lift... its getting a little bigger tire...



    wire tuck this... the only wires left is what is required to make it run... everything is on a switch panel...



    this is how it sits now... it runs good, swapped in an si tranny, more pics tomorrow...

    our platform on this has been to keep it as simple as possible... aside from the wiring we even went as far as to weld up all of the extra water ports, just so that the hoses cant fail... there is literally two radiator hoses and thats it... the fuel pump, fans and ignition are all on toggle switches, just so that there are no relays to fail... there will be two fans, wired seperately, just for redundancy... the car doesnt have to be the fastest thing, just reliable, because if you cant finish, you cant win...

    we have some aggressive snow tires on rims at the shop that JJ may be willing to part with....they were on his DA when he did something like this

    tires really would blow the budget, unless he might want to donate them for sponsorship... we do have to paint our cars w/ a "nascar inspired paint theme" so i will need some sponsor logos, and im selling real estate if you know what i mean...

    we got the car painted today and i am very pleased w/ how $40 worth of rustoleum turned out... hopefully i can get the number stickers next week and i need all of your racing stickers that you dont need... thanks for looking...

    so i went and drove it on a 1/2 mile long rough pipeline that is on my property and the GPS said we did 52 mph!!! i dont care who you are, 50+ is FAST in the dirt!!! it feels great and handles very well offroad, i was impressed actually... we finished the nets, grab handles, drivers door bars and started the front skid... overall a very productive day, the one fan maintains 190* so i am pleased w/ that... swapped out the oil pump and no more problems there... i still want a radiator fan, just for back up...

    i scored n a/c fan, extra distributor for a spare and a good oil pump for $40 from an IA member... today i got the seats mounted, mud flaps on, and i mean these are your jdm wet dream, they are from a 2010 tacoma trimmed down to fit, they actually look great... i am in the middle of building a tube chassis for a customer so i have to divide my time, but i want to get the wiring finshed up and the harnesses in tomorrow...

    still looking for a EF/CRX radiator fan...

    these are what the flaps look like.... these are all the rears, the fronts look almost the same...

    aug 7th... i still need a EF/CRX oem radiator fan... and a ragged ass old racing seat like the drivers one we already have... i figure anything has got to be better than stock... it just has to be a suspension seat of some sort...
