    Default Spinks's 240sx

Let me start off by saying, 56K Beware! I change my mind a lot in this thread so if you read that I have plans to do something, I might end up doing the opposite later on in the thread.

If you see some super sweet mods in here and you want to do them yourself but want some help, just let me know and I will do the best I can. Also if you want more pics of certain things on the car, just ask!

This is the paint job DIY

Suggestions are welcome in this journal and feel free to converse as long as there is no thread jacking involved, and we stay on the topic of this thread. Thanks guys! That being said....

    Update November 3rd 2009

    Stage 3, 6 puck

    Wideband, Red afr gauge

I ordered a red top sr from tiger racing, it was delayed two days but worth the wait because....

Black top! No extra charge thanks to Sam at Tiger Racing also hooked me up with that clutch =)

    Leaving tiger

getting the old red top from my buddies house. Thats Chris, he helped me out with the truck

    Arriving at my house finally

lol an actual picture of me for once.

Friends that are helpin me out, lol

All we need to get the engine in is to align the clutch, and do some motor mount work, then we are good to go!
More pics tomorrow should have all the stuff we need by then.

    Update November 5th 2009
Last night Sean (sullen) came by and helped us get the engine in the car, My brother and I got it to mount on the tranny (it was not easy, lol) and Sean helped me, my brother, and my friend Louis get the mounts to line up. Mostly grunt work.

    In.

Today we bolted up every single thing that required a bolt on the whole engine, and torqued them all. I have a stripped nut on the exhaust manifold which is gonna be a complete bitch to fix. It's got wiring problems from hell but we got it that way.

    Bolted up completely.

    Update November 6th 2009
Today we clamped all lines, and did vacuum lines. Put all the piping on and sensors all hooked up.

Vac lines, I took this pic for comparison reasons.

We got all the final things done. Put all fluids in, changed the oil, tightened alternator belt etc.
I got the video camera out and we turned the key...... Started up first try, idle was perfect all systems are go!

Got it to my friends house to wire up the wideband and do a street tune. We filled the tires with air and polished the pipes.

We were done with everything just in time to get my girlfriend home and get to the Acworth meet at Sonic =).
Gauges reading good and no problems at all except for the coolant return line drips, but I will replace it soon.

    Update November 7th 2009
Finally put those Enkies on in the posts above ^. Brand new tires, got the fattest we could on the back so no more breaking loose all the time =)

    Update November 8th 2009
Painted the bumper and hood real sloppy and put them on got some VHT on the marker lights cause they are discolored orange. I like stock better then smoked but they were too old and off colored to keep on there like that.

    Update November 23rd 2009
If anyone has seen my car, although it is painted, it is only spray paint, and it looks terrible. So I decided yesterday that I was gonna wet sand + buff + wax ect.

    Just a little teaser here.

    Top 50/50

Did the whole passenger side today although it wasn't painted well, so it doesn't look great, no pics do to fail paint. I actually painted the drivers side for a very long time so it will come out much better (tomorrow). Did the driver side fender though.

Yes, this is spray paint! Yes, it will stay like this!

Still have to do half the top, the hood, driver door and quarterpanel then im done!

    Update Tuesday February 23rd, 2010

    Some Spinks' swagger right here

    New front end!

    Update Monday March 1st, 2010

Ok I am glad to be updating this because the only thing I could not really do on a car was wiring, until now. So now I can consider myself a jack of all trades as a car enthusiast =)

    That is wired to these.

Kinda bright and ricerish I know but I am desperate for some more lights in my car at the moment, I might find some other ways to fulfill this need though.

    See that switch?

That is conveniently located directly above the factory wiring. It is a switch that makes me undetectable at night . You probably guessed it, it cuts power to all the lights on the rear of the car, and the marker lights on the sides, my projectors make only slim beams of light so I can't be seen from behind at night now, when I don't want to be seen that is. he he he.

    Kill switches coming soon.

    Update Tuesday March 23rd, 2010

Hey guys Some of you know I've been having problems with my sr not turning over completely. I STILL haven't found the answer but I should have a torque wrench to remove the flywheel this Friday. We pulled the tranny and everything was in place perfectly, so what I had suspected went down the drain. I took the valve cover off Sunday and the valves are fine, I could pull the crank about 3 quarters of a turn and then it would stop. From where I was it sounded like it was coming from directly where the flywheel is, but what is it? Halfway through the turn it was really hard to turn the crank then it loosened up, then stopped completely. GRR.

    Here's some pics

    I painted the hatch stills.

    Update Tuesday April 13th, 2010

    Update Thursday April 15th, 2010

Did some more of my special painting muahahahahaha. My walmart paint job > than your oem paintjob.

    Before

    AFTER

The after pictures are NOT a respray, that is the same paint from the before pictures, with a little tlc!

I'll hopefully get the quarter panel done tomorrow.

7 bucks a yard at walmart plus 3m Adhesive spray. I will make a DIY if I ever do it again. My steering wheel and shift boot are also wrapped with the same fabric.

    Here it is
    Update Sunday April 24th, 2010

I replaced my nasty pleather steering wheel cover with the same fabric I've been working with for my shift boot and headliner.

Sadly no pics on the car yet it wasn't bright enough and even my good camera doesn't have flash. It looks totally sick though! Instead of covering the pleather with the fabric I covered the plastic that was under it.

    Update Wednesday May 19th, 2010
Sold the rims today for 550 bucks. Remember I bought them earlier for 65? =D

I was driving a high school friend to school.
Right now I have no job and as you can tell everything except the new motor was done cheaply. My family inherited some money just recently and I got a tid bit of it for the motor. Everything else I have done with the help of friends and money I make here and there selling parts. Right now I'm trying to buy a car that needs work, fix it, and sell it for some extra cash.

My tune isn't bad I got my friend from MTI Racing to do it for me for free. It never really runs rich except when I'm at full boost, but it's supposed to. I have a wideband too so I can monitor is all the time. 14.7 idle. 15-16 cruisin (lean cruise saves gas) and 11-12 WOT.
