    Default Corvair Springfest (rain sucked)

Springfest is held every year in Helen. Biggest turnout ever despite the weather. Approximately 300 people, 100 cars and best variety of cars in a long time.

Chevrolet originally released the corvair as an economy car that shifted to sporty for the late models. They are all rear engine air-cooled flat 6 cylinders of varying displacement and power, even factory turbocharged.

Early Models : 1960 - 1964 Coupe, Sedan, Covertible, Rampside Truck, Greenbrier Van and Lakewood wagon. The "El Cormino" is 1 of 4 produce by a thrid party manufacturer. It started life as a Lakewood.

Late Models: 1965 - 1969 Only types produced were coupe, convertible and sedan. No more wagons, trucks or vans.

Kholer engine for hovering, corvair engine for thrust.

Wow, nice Corvairs! My Dad was a Corvair nut back in the '70s-'80s, when I was in high school we had 3 in the driveway. Mom's '65 Corsa, Dad's '66 Corsa, and a '67 500.

In fact, I think 2 of those cars are still rusting away behind a barn up in Habersham County.

Well, the event was a joint effort between Heart of Georgia Corvairs and Corviar Atlanta under Corsa (The national club). They really need younger participants to help at the events, they ain't gettin' any younger. The next event will be the fair in Perry GA in September. If you own a corvair and register, you get to drive in the parade! lol
