    Default 2011 Ford Focus RS500

To mark the end of production for the current Ford Focus RS, Ford of Europe is celebrating with this limited-edition RS model called the RS500. Limited to just 500 units, the Ford Focus RS500 will make its debut at the 2010 Leipzig Motor Show in Germany next month.

“We were determined to mark the end of production for the current and acclaimed Focus RS with something even more special,” said Joe Bakaj, Ford of Europe’s vice president for Product Development. “From its stunning looks to its intoxicating performance, we have no doubt that the RS500 will be appreciated and quickly snapped up by performance car enthusiasts.

Power for the Ford Focus RS500 comes from the same turbocharged Duratec RS 2.5-L 5-cylinder engine found in the RS. However, power has been increased to 345-hp with a maximum torque of 339 lb-ft. That allows the Focus RS500 to go from 0-62 mph in 5.6 seconds with a top speed of 163 mph.

Sales of the Ford Focus RS500 will start in May for 20 lucky European countries.

This makes me miss home a lot and living right near the ford factory.

My cousin pretty much got every rs model that came out while I was living there.

Is the RS fwd or awd? Thats a crazy amount of power for a "stock" focus.

This might not be true just a guess... but maybe they build certain types of cars for certain countries that would sell better than other countries, due to type of terrain, road laws, and even general laws. Just a guess but might be true.

Agreed. And with that much torque, it seems that it would break loose alot. I'm making 300ish right now and I have to ease into it or I lose my tires (or pressure plate).

Be honest with yourselves, other than enthusiasts, and a few handful of "well off" Focus fans, who would buy this in the US? Although Ford makes great cars overseas, they want to make money and as much as I hate to say it, there is no real market for this kind of car in the US. If someone wants one bad enough theyll import it.

Take a look at the past failures of other automotive manufacturers and what they released in the US between 2000 and now and youll see why they havent released anything like this.

I think enough people would buy it. Why do you think it took so long for the Evo and WRX/Sti to come over; they didn't think people would buy them but, they did.

I love Subaru, but you know sometimes things go deeper than what you see at car meets and enthusiast sites.

X2. Forums give us a skewed perspective on autos.

Think of every single person you know. Now write down all of them that went out and paid $35k for an off-the-lot EVO or STI.

Now. Do the same and substitute Ford Mustang or Corvette. Unless your friend base is centered around an Evo forum, you'll see the point.

Oh hell, I thought the "500" referred to the amount of power it had.

I would buy it and I am a fan of the Focus. Have been for four years now since I bought my SVT. The car isn't a straight line car, but they handle great on road courses. They should have made it AWD though so Ford gets a thumbs down for that one.

I bought a brand new WRX STI. I know more people than I can count on both hands that did the same as well.
