Those look like Port-a-walls. I had them on my Rat Rod, bout to use em on my Beetle and the Truck. They go under the rim and bond to the tire. Big in the 50's.

Well, I personally think it's perfect for BMW....
They have a rubber compound paint substance that a lot of people use to get the wide white wall look. It's pretty cheap and looks just like a real WWW when done.
