    Default First E89 Z4 GT3 Spotted!

At the recent FIA Balance of performance tests at Paul Ricard the latest GT3 Challenger broke cover.
The all new BMW Z4 GT3 ran for the 1sttime in public, all thought not much is known about the car it is know that it share’s the same 4ltr V8 that’s in the current M3 GT2 car so we can expect around 550hp in GT3 form. The car also appeared on Dunlop tyres the only GT3 car to do so, have to assume this is due to the tie up BMW has with Dunlop for its GT2 car.

Its not known of any confirmed buyers for the car or any confirmed races in which it will compete but the car is legal to run in any GT3 series, the international GT open and 24hrs at the Nurbergring.

I suspect a part season in FIA GT3 and the Ring 24hrs as deliveries are stated to start 2nd quarter of this year and probable outings in the German ADAC masters championship. One thing for sure all eyes will be on this car.

Without the wing and body kit it could look good.

I wanna say use GT3 instead of the Porsche Cup class but i'm sure it would be too expensive for most of the runners but they'd still be ultra slow lap traffic for the LMP1s.

The only thing I don't like about this car is that the grille looks comically oversized.

The wide body of the GT3 model sort of fixes that problem...looking forward to seeing it in action!

I dont understand BMW Chassis codes at all. I thought they were up to E92, and now E89? If its not horribly complicated, can someone explain this for me?

It's just like the 911 chassis codes a mystery?

They don't just keep going up for each model, each model has it's own section but some things just can't be explained either: like why M cars have S-code engines and non-M cars have M-code engines.

All the years aren't exact but they're close:

    e81 2005+ 1 Series 3dr. Hatchback
    e82 2007+ 1 Series Coupe

    e83 2004+ X3
    e84 2009+ X1

    e85 2003+ Z4 / MZ4 Roadster
    e86 2006+ Z4 / MZ4 Coupe

    e87 2004+ 1 Series 5dr. Hatchback
    e88 2007+ 1 Series Convertible

    e89 2009+ Z4 (2nd gen retractable hardtop)

Ah, yes thank you! I've looked at a list of the BMW Chassis codes and was never able to see a pattern for whatever reason. I think I kept associating them with age.

Looks like they're switching over to F now...the new 5-series GT is F07.

I REALLY hope they make a coupe. The retractable top is just extra weight.

This thread makes perfect IA sense.

No one talks about the race car. Only the street one.

Hence why i was gonna post it in comp before i saw someone threw it in here.
