Spent 3 days trying to find someone to blow these bitches on. Finally went to Butler Tire.They have done this tire size vs. wheel width before, but the barrel design of the HRE's, make it a pain in the ass. So, tomorrow I'm going to an old school place to get them blown on. Using ether, blah blah blah. I just want to drive it again. Oh, and the sizes are, 225/45/17 going on a 17x10.5.



On a better note... I did get the car running 98%. It was an exciting journey.lol. But she doesn't have the james bond smoking issue, anymore. And it idles perfect now. Could use a few adjustments, but overall she's there. Next comes fixing all the body damage, including the fucked up fender and front bumper. When I get tires for the front, I will be taking the wheel to get fixed as well. She's getting there with lots of money and time.. lolol

225/45 on a 10.5 isn't that extreme, people do it all the time and it shouldn't be that hard to mount. I don't know what those tires are though.

Well, the issue is with the inner barrel. They can't get the bead to pop out over it because of it's depth... Here's a pic for example... You can see how the lip steps down a good amount.

Not sure what the stock wheels are, but 225s seem skinnier than stock, which would make a smaller contact patch. Heavier wheels + smaller contact patch on tires would equal a longer stopping distance.

Also, one functionality of a tire is to protect the wheels. I don't know about you, but even if I had an expendable amount of money, I would hate to bang up an HRE. Also, I think it's going to look stupid. Again, that's just my opinion, so that part of my argument is subjective.
