wow appreciate the luv.... today i was able to get the car to the shop and we removed the 8v in about two hours, also got the harness out...and began removing seam sealer..ill have a couple pics up in a little bit....

Great! I remember when it was painted brown. Looks sick, wish I could see it in person.
so yesterday...not too much exciting....removed more seam sealer and removed the fiberglass that the the first person who tried to do the bay laid on....(wish i would of known back then what i know now)

almost finished removing seam sealer...still need to do top of struts and inside the corners on top of the firewall...then sanding, filler, more sanding....

thanks folks....this whole build , especially the engine bay, has given me a whole new appreciation for those older cars you see in the magazines and at the shows...
car is going to remain root beer metallic, roof will no longer be cream, just body color, bay mint green, probably with brown flake and the center of wheels will be mint green as well as root beer metallic ;), polished lips...etc....

havent really got to work on the car this past week..but today was able to cut all the random studs off, and reservoir mount, removed some more of the paint, dropped exhaust, dropped shifter box...tomorrow will be devoted to working on the firewall mainly....
well got the all metal work completed with the bay...primed it with epoxy primer and slick sand, going to sand it down again, apply the fiberglass filler to upper firewall area, sand it down again...apply some reg filler, sand it down again, prime it and paint it....
shooting for this ride height....maybe just a hair higher in the rear

So today we actually started doing actual body work..still a ton to do....layed on a guide coat to see what work is needed....also test fitted wheels...looks like ill need to lose the helpers also in the rear to get it how I want it...that was with 1"left w/helpers...

so with this shave the bay treatment i will also be switching powerplants... will be replacing the econo 8v for a 16v
specs: 2.0L 16v engine - rebuilt 10Kmiles ago. Originally 1.8L that was bored to 2.0L and fitted with 10:1 JE forged pistons. Bottom end rebuilt with all new bearings, seals, bolts, etc. The cylinder haed was sent and had a 3 angle valve job, cleaned and decked, new guides, stem seals, and cam chain. New timing belt and waterpump.
also ordered these last night for my fenders and rad support
