After not having a car for 8 months, I began looking for the "perfect car". I was in between a 335i, RS4, and an E55 AMG. The the only 335i color combo I wanted was sold literally minutes before going to look at the car. The Audi RS4 is an amazing car, but the only color I would have settled for was Ibis White(hard as hell to find) and they were also more than I really wanted to spend. I had been looking for the "perfect car" for nearly 3 months, I found it! On 04/17/09 I left work and headed straight to Hertz. I left The Hertz DC office around 6pm and have trouble with the first rental car issued to me at 5pm. Great! I was already an hour behind schedule! I and arrived in Centerville, Ohio at around 3:30am. It took me 30 minutes to find an vacant hotel. I got a few hours of sleep that night and woke up round 8am. I went to breakfast and rushed over to the dealership. I couldn't wait! The salesman followed me to turn my rental in, I then rode with him back to the dealership(Ross Motor Cars). When we arrived(5 minutes later), we headed straight to his office to finish the paper work. 20 minutes later I am sitting in the car while the salesman is explaining all of the wonderful, well placed features. As soon as he wraps up his tutorial, I am on my way back down to DC.
On the way back to my hotel that day, I couldn't help but laying into the throttle every 20 minutes or so. It was a true blast! I would deliberately slow down to about 5mph under the speed limit to do quick, semi-safe 130mph blasts!I ended up arriving back at my hotel around 8:30pm, exhausted, but I could barely sleep due to immense excitement! As soon as the weather somewhat cleared up, I took three semi decent pictures, and here they are...
Completed mods
-15% window tint
-OEM flush mounted Mercedes hood emblem
-debaged
-DPE S10s. 20x8.5(front) 20x10(rear)
Ordered mods
-matte black emblems
Future mods
-ELM(Electronic Lowering Module)
-Possibly some sort of dry carbon rear diffuser and dry carbon front lip(depends on whether I find something I "dig").
-2007-2008 W211 LED taillights(though I had sourced some, but come to find out they had just been sold. If I can't find any used taillights in the next few weeks, I will buy new ones).
-color matched front grill(Maybe less fins).
-Heat exchanger and cm30 pump(before any engine modifications).
-The obvious headers, pulley, and tune.
-Painted calipers(yellow or blue, still undecided).
-E63 front bumper
-Exhaust with some kind of cool tips(leaning towards an Eisenmann race exhaust).
That is all I can think of as of now, but I will add more 'future mods' and/or 'ordered mods' as necessary to keep up with my "build". I modded my 06 sti WAY too fast, so I think I am going to relax and let this car flow together. I'm not going to rush anything.
If anyone has any questions, comments, and/or concerns with the "build", please speak up. I would love to hear your opinions!
Thanks for taking the time to look at my journal, it means a lot!
Enjoy,
Wes
