This is a VERY cool build man. I've owned way more MX6's than I care to admit so I'm pretty familiar with Mazda piston engines. I've always found the KL to be a very lacking engine in terms of performance considering it is a 2.5L V6 but I know how much fun they can be (in an MX6 which is heavier!). I can imagine this thing is an absolute blast to drive. NOW IT NEEDS A TURBO.

Have you weighed the car by any chance with the KL in it? IIRC those 323's only weigh a shade over a ton in factory trim.

BTW everyone I have shown this car to online is AMAZED at how much room is under the hood with the V6 in it.

before the swap it weighed 2250 with a half a tank and a system. im hoping the aluminum KL will cancel out the old iron block b6 and it will still weigh roughly the same.

it needs some work before i drive it out of town. i stay in the warner robins/macon area for now. both front wheel bearings are shot(junkyard hubs), and some other little misc. things need to be fixed.

it is running good though. about 400 miles on it so far.

Just when i thought the swap was going well, Kaboom.

Spun a rod bearing just cruising along out of nowhere. It was not even knocking the day before. FML...

Idk man. I've never seen anything like it. You could not hear any kind of knocking until yesterday. I thought it was a bad valve because it was so faint. so I was driving home to park it last night and it happened.

    I'll post some pictures later.

Thanks Joe. I might hit him up on that offer. I wanted to build a Klde/ze hybrid anyway but not this soon. Thats the plan right now.

EDIT: didn't see it has a blown HG. I have one of those in my driveway in the mx6 lol. I want a zero mile rebuild.

Blackshine it was cylinder number 6. Looking up at the bottom end it was the far left rod.

Yeah, a weak oil pump will do that. I probably might wanna consider changing mine out sometime. I don't feel like spending $160 for a new one, though

That might explain the lifter tick...my head might have not been getting enough oil. I thought it was just common with Mazda heads because my old b6 did it too.

I knew I should have finished hooking up my oil pressure gauge. Had one in the car ready to go but just had not ran the nylon line yet.
