Default 2001 / 2002 Nopi Nationals (Lots of pics)

The IA Circa 2001 thread had me dig up some of my old pics from the past. Found these and decided to scan some that have survived over the years. Funny how things were back then.

I'm so happy that I wasn't involved in that "scene" then. Had a lot of friends that were and I always hated it. I guess it was cool for the time being. I was into sleepers...and Civics. It's funny bc I loved them but now despise most of them.

Those are some interesting pics. Just an observation; why do people not take more pics of the functional racecars? Look at this pic:

The most interesting car in all the pics to me is the one in the back of the pic. The one with the roll cage and wheels. I wish I could see more of it since that was taken 8 years ago. It is interesting to see how something change and somethings stay the same. That goes for the show cars and racecars alike. Thanks for putting up some pics from back in the day of the scene.

PFFT!!!! Comeon man....LOOKING like you are a racer is MUCH more cost effective then actually BEING one. Get with the program man

If I could get my scanner to work, I'd have some pics of Lisa Kubo's drag car from Southeast Race Wars 2002. Same for Jojo Callos, haha. Those were the cars I read about back when Super Street was still a decent read.

I came from Mississippi for this show, it was the greatest thing I had seen, funny stuff. I think that the only place I ate was Hooters for every meal. I was in the stereo competition, but I blew my speakers the night before by showing off at a car wash, stupid woofers I used in those days. I wish I could find the pictures, I know I have them somewhere around, I've moved about eight times since then though.

If that's a USDM teg, then probably not. JDM fronts were relatively cheap at that time. Everyone was into that F&F stuff. Not many people did the conversion before the JDM craze hit...

That's why I assumed the cost would be much higher. Interesting to know. I inverted supply and demand?

Trust me. It's supply and demand. There was really no demand for it and supply was extremely high.

I just have to laugh. I know a lot of people think all that stuff is ghey and rice now, but does anyone notice the lack of shitty half primered cars with mis-matched body panels , shitty paint or stock cars lowered on steelies? At least people were putting money into their cars back then. Now it seems like most people are just a bunch of cheapasses and very few people actually finish their goals.

That's another thing I meant to mention. Looks like people were doing a lot more with their cars then.

I prefer those days over now. Now if you do anything outside the box it's considered rice and every car looks close to the same. Back then, you barely saw two cars that looked the same because everyone was doing what they liked. Now everyone is too afraid to get flamed to do stuff original...

man i miss those days. The scene was just alot more fun and not every other car looked the same.

........and do you have any more pics of Josh Nixons baby blue teg??? Not the BMW front one, the other one you had one pic of the back. That was before he had the whole interior fiberglassed. That was and still is one of my favorite integras ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh how the times have changed. While most of the stuff that was done then doesn't fit my tastes, one must admit that people's cars were actually different. I could go to a meet now and see five or six Hondas done the same way, but whenever I see old car show pictures, people were actually doing stuff that would separate their cars from the crowd, for better or for worse.
