C5's are famous for this, happened to me twice, and a friend too. My car looked almost identical to yours damage wise, it was over 10k to fix (not counting wheels) state farm fixed it then cancelled my policy. Interested to see what the quote is...

Uhhhhh this brings back bad memories. I had a 2000 frc H/C car and had the exact same thing happen. I was going about 40 getting onto 575 with a woodstock officer right behind me. Before I knew what happened the back was in the front and i was in the grass..good thing there was a bridge that stopped me from going into the other lane. I thought the car would be fine until I went to shut the door and it didnt shut.. Insurance totaled it.. Anyway hope everything turns out ok...![]()

so these cars that are supposed to be very well tuned, suspension wise, are light in the ass and tend to hydro plane when it's wet?
i think you guys just changed my mind on my next car being a Z.....i'll stick to my 80+ mph curves in my gto with my measly 265's
Lower that shit! The front fender looks good from what I can see, lol.
These cars are not super light in the ass being 53/47... The GTO is 55/45 for comparison. The tendency to hydroplane is almost non-existant if you have good tread on street tires. Which is not the case here. (worn drag radials) The wide tires and low tread turn into skis in the rain, at 40% tread on my street tires I can hydroplane on the highway going straight...
On a side note, Collins' GTO handles surprisingly well in the mountains with just aftermarket springs and BFG sports.
^ lol get real ive owned both... they take turns they just arent too rain friendly. The goat is a boat in the turns
how about you suck a dick bro, have some sympathy... bolts ons/slicks/n2o and your stuck in the 11s... you sir are doing it wrong
yes it was down hill, yes the grass was wet as it rained ALL day in canton and yes if you would like to come out personally and measure the marks feel free to guys. The police that investigate this sorta thing every day and also investigated mine prob dont know as much as you all do though it seems.
At least your ok
why the fuck are you fools arguing about how he wrecked. is it really that big of a fucking deal that he hydroplaned in a z06 with bad drag radials?
shit, i forgot that there are so many professional drivers here on IA, my bad.....![]()

thank you charlie bunch of jealous mother fuckers on here it seems, if you guys dont have something constructive to say then get the fuck out of my thread. awaits the "welcom to IA nub" from all the haters.
PS: thanks for the words of encouragement glides. I knew the tires were on borrowed time, thats why work let me go early and I was supposed to get new tires the very next day. On another note I changed my collision deductible from $500 to $1000 not even a week ago bc ive never had a claim in my short 8yrs of driving... FML
Sorry to hear man.. good luck getting everything fixed!
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Lulz.
Karma. What an ugly bitch.
damn bro sorry to hear that....
I love how people's ugly ass personalities come out when it has nothing to do with them.
1) New Flash: No1 gives a FUCK about "what you believe" his speed to have been.
2) There is no such thing as karma. You don't always get what you want in life, you don't always get what you deserve. You get what you get.
G/L getting back on the blocks man.

You had HID's on that? jesus christ.. I thought rice boys put aftermarkett HID's in their cars..
Sorry about the wreck.. State farm should take care of you.. If I were you, I really couldn't care less about a 30$ HID ballast..

Man sorry to hear about the ride. Especially after getting the wheel recently. I least you can look at it this way what ever is broken gets a better replacement item to fix it.
As far as the hydroplanning incident. I had a similar incident in my EF Hatch back in highschool (13 years ago). First I am not comparing a Stock EF Hatch to a C5Z, but I was going about 10-15 mph in a parking lot trying to look cool around the ladies and in my new car... didnt pay attention and hit a ice patch near the curb and bumped the side really hard. Turns out I bet the frame and F'ed the wheel up. Really sucked and def didnt look cool.Water and Ice do not like R Compound. Plus I think he would have been in a worse type situation if he were going faster (Opinion... Not a professional or Dr. in Physics)
Glad you are okay and hope your back is fine. So far my experience with State Farm has been good.
