deff wasn't my idea, but i like the final product.

we did this with a lacquer primer, it was gloss black before, good thing is that you can just about wash this paint off with the right stuff and do no damage to the paint underneath...it will just be scuffed and ready to re-clear...no harm in the long run.

was a little unnerving just busting out the sandpaper and going at a perfectly good, fresh paint job on one of the pricier cars i've done...but always fun, the owner is happy.

I would love to do that to the Evo. Matte black looks sinister.

I would think that if you could afford a CTS-V, you could, in turn, afford a professional paint job?

That being said, its a cool idea.

Is it too much to assume that the car has a matte clear coat over the satin black and not just black? This car wouldn't happen to be missing the passenger and rear rear seat would it?

no, no matte clear...we suggested it but he wanted a super dull look, he hadn't washed the car in 6 months and says he doesn't plan on it in the future.

    it has all the seats

I think it looks good. What would set it off is tint, new set of wheels and of course lowered.

i saw this Monday i think on Duluth highway, it looked pretty good, the hood looked like it had giant brush strokes on it though when i drove by but it couldv'e been dirty. I likes the front a lot but the back made it look strange to me in flat black.

lol nice. Whatever the customer wants I guess lol!

Just making sure it wasn't a member on here. Cleaner spray job with matte clear is the only way to do a proper satin job! Other than vinyl of course but it's crazy expensive lol!

I feel better about it, knowing it can easily be returned to gloss black.

LOL CTS-Vs can be had in the mid 15s if you hunt (04-05's with "decent" miles). I hardly think its an expensive car anymore

I agree. Wheels would finish this out. Without them it looks so so. I like flat black cars. But put wheels on that thing and it's gangster. Plus the quality of the paint from the photo doesn't look that bad for a backyard job, at least the entire thing is covered.

thanks for the comments guys...yeah, we thought about vinyl since the whole car is all straight edges...then we priced the actual vinyl, i knew it was pricey but wow.

yeah, the hood is a little off, needs to be wiped down to get the overspray off...the trunk came out the same way...he said he isn't going to wash it, should look good in a couple weeks, haha.
