No regular production Civic, no matter when it was produced, is rare in a broad sense. The only way yours could be considered rare, is if someone tallied how many were still in existence and if the ratio of 1st gens on the road versus 1st gens produced was significantly less than the ratio of other car models of the time still on the road versus the amount of those models produced.<- What I'm trying to accomplish.
He's simply looking for pictures of sedans, since they are in the minority when you talk about modified Civics on IA. "In the minority" = the closest a Civic can come to being rare. <- What the OP is trying to accomplish.
We get it that you don't like '92+ Civics. Considering how little I get on IA and how regularly I've seen you voice that opinion, I'm sure everyone is somewhat onto your tastes for older Hondas. While you may not consider the cars pictured to be "clean" or "nice", it seems a good bit of people do, so you (and others) don't have to be willfully belligerent and antagonize the OP for wanting people to post pictures of modified Civics that aren't the norm for IA.
Lolol. Came a little short on your accomplishments then, huh? It doesn't take any sort of genius to realize that the 1st gen Civic is a rare Civic now. In ANY sense. It doesn't matter the production numbers. I guarantee that you do NOT see more than half a dozen in a year's time. And I'm willing to bet that it's less than that. This doesn't count if you do happen to see one, but you see it every day because it's on your route to work or the owner lives in your neighborhood. This would be the case whether one were sold or one million were sold. Of course one would make it a rarity on the spot, but there were three hundred fifty-three thousand sold just in 1979 alone.
That's the part I'm laughing at. The car is NOT rare. A minority, yes. Rare, no. Later, QD.
Count for the year is around 4 or 5 and the year isn't out. I take notice because I happen to like them, yours especially after the paint job. 2 rust buckets found in a friend's rather large neighborhood (along with the old convertible Honda, S600 or something-er-rather). One station wagon with an OBD-I Z6 in it. Lastly, two on the road. All in the Tucker-Lilburn-Lawrenceville stretch on 29. They are in the minority, but not rare. Like 70-81 Camaros, in the minority, but I've seen around 6 of them this year outside of car shows or meets, one of them being mine and another was a friend's. And considering that '77, '78, or '79 (not exactly sure) was the best selling year for GM, I assume a good number of those were Camaros. Still not a rare car in a broader sense outside of IA. On IA, your car and mine are rare. I recall two first gen Civics and I believe it was Catnip that had a blue '78-'81.
In the realm of IA, being in the minority is as close as its going to get to being a rarity. They're both qualitative terms and open to interpretation, it is clearly obvious that your interpretation differs from the OP's. But, its the internet and that's going to happen.
That's all I'm getting at. Clearly the thread has been jacked from a picture thread. So if you'd like to continue discussing, I'd prefer to do it in PM.
