It looks just like fondant... and why is the lettering so bad?
The actually valve cover part was fondant and it didnt "come" white, it was MADE white. No store bought shit here. To answer your question the white would have been harder because the red velvet cakes shows through it, so there was alot of cream cheese icing under it which took away from some of the detail. And the lettering looks bad in the pictures but not in person because of the angle mostly. Plus, ya'll try writing on a cake with an icing bag..
the letters weren't messed up, the pic just doesn't show how it actually looked. And i think the grooms cake should represent something that is a huge part of his life along with his bride. And all this coming from the same people that hate on all the cars that look the same an tell people to try to be different IA cracks me up...lol
hahah i think thats pretty kool...how can everyone hate on this...its just a damn cake! LOL i mean come on...yeh it may not be perfect of in the right colors...but how about creativitiy..there not building a motor..just forst layers of sponge cake ment to be eatin lol
riding low is like a religion
Well, that's cool and I'm sure it looked great in person, and I'm not trying to hate since I probably couldn't do anything like that myself. I have decorated cakes before with icing bags and other icing tools, and it is very hard to create letters that look just like a logo or typeface, however, I have seen some cakes where the letters and logos are created by cutting them out of a sheet of fondant and those came out pretty sharp. I'm not sure of the level that the decorator is at that made this cake so I really have no room to talk on that matter.
All in all it looks like a good grooms cake, all grooms cakes i have seen represent something the groom may be interested in, hobby, or profession, so this is by no means wrong for a wedding...
well here are some more cakes she has done. look if you would like...http://www.makeitcake.com/apps/photos/
That was an awesome looking cake! Congrats to you guys, wish I could have stayed till you got to the reception but we has to go to a friend's surprise b day party. The bbq was the best I have had in a while and those wontons that Kourt made were good. I would love to have a Vtec cake, lol.

For the people that ask why. Today's fiancees tend to design groom's cakes to represent something unique about the groom, their hobbies, or just plan something they like. Like when I got married, my wife designed my cake after Ray Allen's basketball jersey because she knows that's my favorite basketball player. If the groom's happy that all that matters.
I actually love the idea. I just think the cake would have looked better if her handwriting on the cake looked EXACTLY like the real "H" and "VTEC" words on a real VTEC engine. Thats the only thing (to me) that throws the cake off. I've seen replica cakes that have appeared more realistic. Congrats on getting married & for making Honda a part of it. <3

I don't think it looks bad, my brothers girlfriend owns one of the big bakeries in Athens and half the cake decorators she's ever hired suck ass.
