1963 F100 (My first Project) Frame Off Resto Pics Inside!

Just figured i'd show my first project that got me into cars. My grandfather gave it to me before he passed, so I decided to restore in his memory.

When I got it. I was 10.



What the motor looked like.



Then the tear down...






Then we sandblasted the frame and painted it.



Next, we started painting. The entire truck was painted in our home built garage...




An older interior shot before the doors were put on.






Then we got to the motor. Honestly, the most fun part of it all...





And the finished product:




Still waiting on a hood. No one makes a reproduction metal hood as of yet, so we're just using the stocker.


I'm waiting on some steelies and whitewalls, and to get it lowwww. Then I'll be happy with it. We're currently doing a disc brake conversion on it, so the front end is in pieces. Otherwise I would take more up to date pictures, these are just what I had on my car domain from forever ago.

Nice, and props on keeping the Y block. If you haven't done them yet, there are some oil gallery modifications you might want to do to make sure the cam and rockers get enough oil pressure. All you have to do is pull the rocker assemblies off and drill/tap a couple of holes.

My dad raced a Y-block '56 Ford back in the early sixties. He said the top ends of the Y-blocks would get eaten up because of low oil pressure until people started doing this modification to them.

It won't be that slammed. Dad doesn't want to C-Notch. It'll be a small static drop, probably a 3/5.

I'll have to look into that man, we made our own plate underneath the intake manifold, but I'm not sure if we addressed this issue in the build.

Haha, we had to stay true to the Y block. The motor we had actually formed a crack in the block, so we had to get a new bottom end. We could have just bought a 302 to throw in there, but decided it wasn't the right thing to do.

Maybe down the road we'll throw a supercharger on it from the T-Birds. But now it's just a cruiser.

Around 1966. Before that it was usually black blocks with red or gold valve covers.

We actually just painted the block with an extremely durable single stage paint that matches the body paint code. We were torn between matching or blue.
