Since when did they start using sequentials in the cup cars?

For kicks one year I contacted Porsche asking about buying a new Cup car. Before you all take this as a poser act I SAID FOR KICKS.

Anyway the waiting list for a new one was like three years! She said by the time I'd get one there would be an updated one out already, obviously large Porsche teams get first dibs.
