At first, I was thinking "cool, but thesethreads are too common" then I saw a REPU, the Mecredes rotary thingy and all the other stuff and I'm really proud of you for gathering some of the rarest rotary cars ever made. I've known about every car you posted, but it took me a long time of owning an Rx-7 to find all of that info that you posted in one page.
To everyone who is confused by any of the non-Rx-7 rotaries. It's so much more rewarding knowing the back story of some of these cars. Like the gullwing GM concept. That was to be a 4-rotor corvette, and the CEO of GM said itwas the best Corvette he has ever driven, but rising gas prices killed it.
^^ Yeah, I drew a frame of a man running on each fan blade. That is him running at idle
I like the thread but i have to correct.
The Mercedes Benz C111 III was a diesel.
Like Simon, i doubt the Kart with MB badge would use anything but a 125cc two stroke.
The first major rotary street car came from Felix Wankel's design was the NSU R080.
Before Mazda's prototype project really got underway with Mazdaspeed, Mooncraft helped build the 717C, 727C, and 737C series of cars.
I see you posted the NRV588, but this is the original Norton rotary. Was a British champion.
Did not see the Furai yet (Courage chassis under the body work)
One of the most famous rotary bikes is the Suzuki RE5

EJ25, some reading material on the kart. It's pretty damn impressive.

I want to see more of that black racing RX-7.
The Eunos Cosmo is one of the best looking cars from Japan though, I think.

Looks like a C5R, damn.

those are some nice cars.
“When convention and science offer us no answers, might we not finally turn to the fantastic as plausibility?” Spooky
LOL at that 7 looking like the Vette...what the paint scheme???????? The Corvette owns that RX-7 in every shape and form lol.
Good info on the kart, I remember seeing a rotary kart on board video a while back but am not sure if it's that one. From the OP pic the motor is so small it looks like a rotax.
The first Wankel powered car - the 64 NSU Spider
First Mazda powered by a rotary - 67 Cosmo 110S

And, since no one else has posted one in this thread, although it is titled "Apexseal thread", here is a pic of one:

I was going to put a NA 13B or 12A in my Porsche 914 when I had it, that's a project I really want to do within the next year or two..
Now hold on Simon. Yes, the GT1 C6.R would overpower the GT300 RX-7 but its not that simple and not that big of a difference.
Consider this. In the 2009 Super GT Okayama race, a privateer team brought over an ex Prodrive DBR9. Yes, that team didn't have to sophistication of Corvette Racing but with that considered, the DBR9 qualified 14th in the GT500 class because it was so much slower in the corners to the less powerful but superior aero GT500 class cars.
The time the DBR9 set was 1'30.203. The Amemiya SGC 7 did a time of 1'32.103. Less than two seconds away which is something Corvette racing does over other GT1 competition. So really, not that crazy of a gap when considering the RX7s power deficit and lower funding.
I'm seeing this in the same way as the 250cc class in GP is to the old 500cc bikes. At tracks like Jerez where there are very few straights, they would out qualify the bigger machines because of the higher corner speeds. Just do that to the cars case in this example.
BTW. Much respect to Kudzu. At the 2008 Mitty, No car was as fascinating as fire breathing Kudzu.
